There was a lot of hope when the New York Jets brought in a young Adam Gase to replace Mike Maccagnan. Gase was only in charge of the Miami Dolphins for 2 seasons before he was sacked in 2019.

The Jets viewed Gase as the ideal replacement in order to nurture a young Sam Darnold. However, after 2 below-par seasons in Manhattan, Jets GM Joe Douglas opted to part ways with Gase last month.

The Jets ended their 2020 NFL campaign at the bottom of the AFC East with a 2-14 record. Gase finished with a 32-47 record (regular season). The Jets have the second overall pick to their name this year. But who will be their head coach?

Who could replace Adam Gase as New York Jets Head Coach

Eric Bieniemy (51)

You might have gotten bored reading stories linking Eric Bieniemy to multiple NFL organizations over the last couple of weeks. The Kansas City Chiefs’ Offensive Coordinator is currently in-demand by the likes of Jacksonville Jaguars, Atlanta Falcons, and the Jets, of course.

The Jets are seriously pondering a move for Bieniemy in the offseason. He is also being linked with the prospect of teaming up with Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson.

But the possibility of linking up with either Justin Fields or Trevor Lawrence might be enough for Eric to leave the Chiefs and shift base to the Big Apple in 2021.

Robert Saleh (41)

Another man who is in talks to replace Adam Gase in New York is San Francisco 49ers Defensive Coordinator, Robert Saleh. At 41, Robert has the right mix of experience and age to serve as Head Coach of a major NFL organization at this point in time. He is currently the bookmaker’s favorite to secure the vacant position with the Jets.

Saleh has previously served as an Assistant Coach with Houston Texans, Seattle Seahawks, Jacksonville Jaguars. He will be the ideal candidate to move to New York in order to lead the Jets into a new era.

Brandon Staley (38)

The Los Angeles Rams Defensive Coordinator impressed critics and fans alike over the last 4 months. He arrived in LA in the offseason, having previously served as an Assistant Coach for the Denver Broncos and Chicago Bears.

The Jets confirmed that they brought in Staley for an interview earlier this month. The Rams are in the Divisional Playoffs after beating NFC West champions, Seattle Seahawks, last weekend. Bringing in someone like Staley could prove to be a masterstroke by Jets GM Joe Douglas.

Brian Daboll (45)

Buffalo Bills Offensive Coordinator, Brian Daboll, is also making headlines in recent weeks. The Bills OC has been credited for the development of Josh Allen over the last 3 years.

His CV includes teams like New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, and even the Cleveland Browns. He has done a brilliant job in 2020 leading the Bills to their first-ever AFC East title since 1996.

However, Daboll is rumored to be in talks with the Philadelphia Eagles to replace the now sacked Doug Pederson. But the prospect of linking up with a potential first or second-choice rookie quarterback might be too good of an opportunity to turn down. Only time will tell how this saga ends.
