Tua Tagovailoa arrived in the NFL with great expectations riding on his young shoulders. He was drafted by the Brian Flores-coached Miami Dolphins last year as the 5th overall pick. The promising dual-threat quarterback made a name for himself while playing for the Alabama Crimson Tide Football Team.
However, he suffered a nasty injury against Mississippi State in 2019, which ruled him out for the rest of the season. The Dolphins took a major gamble to bring in Tua, who was still undergoing rehabilitation when he was drafted. He started the season on the bench behind veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick.
But he was promoted to starting QB ahead of Week 7. He finished his rookie season with a 6-3 record, throwing for 1,814 yards with 11 passing touchdowns and 5 interceptions.

The former University of Alabama man made a guest appearance on Thursday’s edition of NFL Network’s Good Morning Football podcast.
He was asked to comment on his immediate future with the Dolphins amidst all the rumors surrounding a possible trade involving Deshaun Watson.
When asked if he was confident of being a starter in 2021, Tua replied, “I would say yes. What I can do is just control what I can control. My focus is being the best person that I can be. Working hard. Making this Year 1 to Year 2 jump in the NFL.
“First off, this will be my first offseason. I think having an offseason where I can now try to focus on other things aside from the rehab side of things, I can focus more on film work, I can focus more on my footwork, my pocket presence, things like that,” Tagovailoa said on the show.

There are multiple reports linking the Dolphins with a potential move for the wantaway Texans quarterback in the ongoing offseason.
But they might also hold on to their first-round pick and bring in Tua’s former teammate and Heisman Trophy-winning wide receiver, DeVonta Smith, this summer.
