The NFL has been around for quite some time. While many greats have graced the league with their talents, one has stood out from the rest.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has personified over the years what it means to dominate the sport in a fashion like none other.

In the Super Bowl era, 525 playoff games have been played, out of which Tom Brady will have participated in 8.57% of them following his 10th Super Bowl appearance this Sunday.

Mind you, this is a 51-year stretch we’re talking about here starting from 1970. And Brady, 43, has been playing for less than half that period.

The NFL’s winningest quarterback with 6 rings breaks records as if it were child’s play. And today, we look at a few other records held by the phenomenal quarterback.

Tom Brady and Super Bowls go hand in hand

The Super Bowl on Sunday will be Brady’s 45th postseason appearance. And while that’s more than any other player in history, we’d like to point out just how absurd that figure is.

The Super Bowl will be the 222nd playoff game since Tom Brady got his first start in the NFL. Of the 222 games, Brady will have played in 20.27% of all of them since he played his first.

Making the Playoffs is no easy feat. And playing nearly 70% of the ones a player could be eligible for is almost unheard of. But that is exactly what Brady has achieved over his 2-decade-long career.

Based on a simple mathematical calculation where 4 games are used for years when he missed the Playoffs or had to play in the Wildcard Round, and 3 games for years where he had a bye, the total comes to roughly 67 possible playoff games.

And Tom Brady will have played in 67.16% of them. If one counts the byes as games as well, then it would be 58/80, or 72.5%.

And when it comes to playing in the Super Bowl, the numbers sound even more absurd. Of the 52 Super Bowls played so far, Tom Brady has played in 9 of them.

With the quarterback set to appear on the grandest stage in football yet again, it’ll make it 10 Tom Brady appearances in a total of 53 Super Bowl games. That’s nearly 19% of all Super Bowls ever played.

Fathoming these numbers can take some time. But they truly stand out in displaying the legacy that Tom Brady has established in the NFL.
