The future of Aaron Rodgers at Green Bay remains uncertain. The quarterback sounded the alarm bell by citing that his future at Lambeau Field is unclear after a disappointing loss in the NFC Championship Game versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

There are a lot of things that Rodgers might end up doing in the course of the offseason. But according to one NFL analyst, these are the options he has regarding his future at Green Bay.

Aaron Rodgers could seek more guaranteed money

Green Bay Packers reporter Rob Demovsky, during a segment of Get Up, said that there are multiple possible outcomes that could play out between Rodgers and the Packers management in the offseason.

“He could just play and they (Packers management) can tell him you’re gonna have to play. And that’s it, you know, no guarantees or anything. He could then ask for a trade if he wanted to,” said Demovsky.

But that scenario is unlikely. Demovsky believes that the route Aaron Rodgers will opt for is asking for a restructured contract.

“He could ask for more money. And to me, that’s the most likely scenario here. Is that they give him some assurance via the contract, not just words.”

They can give him real assurances by restructuring the contract to give him more guaranteed money, that he’s not just living year to year, even though he has a deal through 2023.”

With no guaranteed money left on his current contract, a contract restructure with more guaranteed money is the situation that is likely to arise.

“There’s no more guaranteed money left on that. So he could ask for the guarantees to show up and say, ‘You know what, this is what I need to know that I am the guy,” Demovsky added.

Unlikely for Rodgers to make unrealistic demands

Demovsky further stated that it is unlikely for Rodgers to enter and ask for sweeping changes in how things work. Instead, asking for verbal and monetary assurance is what he is likely to opt for.

“I don’t think he’s going in there and saying you must do this, or you must do that. I think he would like them to give him both verbal and financial assurances.”

Failing to do that, though, could make Rodgers seriously consider his time at Green Bay.

“If he doesn’t get those (guarantees), well, then let’s see what happens in April or whenever the offseason program begins this year… He could make this difficult for them if he wants to,” said Demovsky.

While some believe that Rodgers may have played his last snap for Green Bay, Packers’ fans will surely hope that is not the case for 2021.
