Lambeau Field, the home of the Green Bay Packers. Fondly known by fans across the NFL as the ‘Frozen Tundra’. The city of Green Bay is known for its harsh winters, and by harsh we mean frostbite inducing harsh winters.
The NFL got its first taste of snow-covered football this season when the Tennessee Titans took on hosts Green Bay Packers in Week 16 at the Lambeau Field.
Temperatures at the stadium hovered around 28 degrees Fahrenheit and the wind chill was recorded at a nail-biting 16 degree Fahrenheit. The result was a landslide victory for the Packers (40-14). The win brought to mind an age-old question. Just how difficult is it to take on the Packers during a snowy night at the Lambeau Field.

Time to bring out those Parkas
While many players in the past have disputed the effect that snow has on their output, the psychological effect it has on the players is undeniable.
The cold Wisconsin climate is not what most NFL franchises are used to. For teams used to warmer climates like Dallas, Miami, and Houston, it’s always an uphill task to play football at times in near blizzard-like conditions.

The Titans, who have been rampant this season in offense with Ryan Tannehill and running back Derrick Henry, were near nullified at Lambeau last week.
Henry, who has 15 rushing touchdowns this season, registered 0 against the Packers in their recent outing. Of course, it would be wrong to disregard the impact that the Packers’ defense had to play in keeping the Titans quiet. But the psychological effect walking out to a harsh, snow-covered pitch has on a player cannot be understated either.
Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers thrive in the snow
One of the biggest mysteries in the NFL is just how well a Californian has settled into the franchise and made it home. Aaron Rodgers has been Green Bay’s go-to man for years now. The gifted playmaker thrives when playing at home.

In his last 5 playoff games at the Lambeau Field, Rodgers is 4-1. His last defeat coming way back in 2014 against the San Francisco 49ers. This is a statistic that cannot be overlooked.
Especially given that the Green Bay Packers, with a win against the Chicago Bears in their final game of the regular season, can clinch the NFC top seed. And as we all know by now, a top seed means a first-round bye and home advantage when taking to the field next.
From the famous Ice Bowl of 1967 to the Snow Bowl of 1985, Lambeau Field has played host to several classics over the years. And with the Playoffs approaching, NFL fans can expect yet another Frozen Tundra special pretty soon.
