When the Green Bay Packers traded up to draft Jordan Love in the 2020 NFL Draft, everyone saw the rookie as the heir to Aaron Rodgers at Lambeau Field.

Come 2021, things haven’t quite gone according to the plan for Love. Aaron Rodgers had a phenomenal 2020 season that saw him being crowned the league’s MVP. A 3rd MVP title for the seasoned veteran.

And although Rodgers declared that his future at Green Bay is not a certainty following the side’s playoff exit to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it’s looking increasingly likely that the veteran QB will remain the man under center for Green Bay.

This means that Love’s first NFL start will have to wait. And by wait, we mean for a long time. Rodgers played some of the best football of his career in 2020. Still only 37, he could easily play a couple of more seasons in the league.

So what do the Green Bay Packers do with Love? More importantly, how would he want his NFL career to pan out? Would he be okay with being Aaron Rodgers’ understudy for at least 2-3 more seasons?

While the prospect of learning from the best in the sport is an offer that’s hard to resist, a trade to a different franchise where he could be a starting QB would definitely be better.

Therefore, if Jordan Love was to be traded this offseason, which NFL franchise would be the best fit for the young QB?

New England Patriots, the perfect landing spot for Jordan Love

The New England Patriots had a rocky season transitioning from Tom Brady. Cam Newton, who was signed by the franchise as a free agent, was underwhelming, to say the least.

And thus, their quarterback concerns endure. The Patriots, however, could be the perfect spot where Jordan Love could hone his craft.

During his college career, Love was known for his mobility and rocket arm. His ability to evade a collapsing pocket is definitely a strong and desirable element.

And under the tutelage of the legendary Bill Belichick, Love could very well peak. He will also have a great set of tools in the offense to work with.

With players like Rex Burkhead, Julian Edelman, N’Keal Harry, and Jacoby Myers, Love will get the breathing room he needs to figure life out in the league.

For the Patriots as well, Love would be a low-risk proposition. Given that the QB is yet to play an NFL game, the Patriots will not have to put much on the line to trade him in.
