He has established himself as the premier star of the NFL, winning everything there is to win in the last half-a-decade. The QB has spread football fever in the passionate city, giving them something to cheer about on a yearly basis. Now, the $503 million superstar is pitching another sports team for the city, far away from the football field.

Ever since Mahomes joined the Chiefs, the franchise has maintained an upward trajectory. They are in the Super Bowl contention every year, appearing in five straight AFC championship games and three Super Bowls in the last five years. The Chiefs have lifted the Vince Lombardi trophy twice in that period. So after years of solo dominance over the city’s sports scene, Mahomes wants to put another team on the Kansas City sports map.

The Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes wants to put Kansas City on the NHL map. He backed the idea of the city getting a hockey franchise and even put his petition in front of the National Hockey League through social media. Will he get what he wants for the city?

“KC coyotes has a nice ring to it! NHL what y’all think?” Mahomes put forward the idea in a tweet.

This comes amid reports that the Arizona Coyotes may be looking to move bases. According to the rumors, Kansas City is one of the possible destinations if the relocation does happen. And Mahomes is also fully behind the idea, so the NHL has some basis to consider the possibility. Maybe the two-time Super Bowl champion can be involved behind the scenes in this matter, giving the new franchise an instant push in the city that has fallen in love with his football.

A part of KC royalty 

In the last six years, Patrick Mahomes has become the pride of Kansas City. His on-field achievements are enough to get him that tag. After all, he brought back the Super Bowl title into the city after 50 barren years in 2020. And then he followed it up with another title this time around. It is natural for the city to love him.
