Everyone knows about the love affair between Skip and the Dallas Cowboys, but recently, there seems to be some crack in it. Cowboys are 4-2 and just a game behind NFC East-leading Eagles. This made Skip go on cloud nine after his beloved Dallas beat the Chargers at SoFi. So, what exactly made a former cowboy go all-out guns blazing on a former ESPN analyst? Let’s dive deeper into what exactly happened for Dez Bryant to react in such a way.
Skip Bayless Getting Called Out
Skip Bayless and his hot takes never seem to disappoint fans. The host of Undisputed was recently seen deciphering former No.88’s tweet and caught flak for it. Earlier this week, the 3-time pro bowler was seen trying to recruit Davante Adams from Las Vegas by tweeting “Cowboys” to No.17. Bayless suggested that the tweet was a message to CeeDee about not living up to 88. And this did not sit well with the former Oklahoma State product.

.@RealSkipBayless Ceedee Lamb is Him!
He’s more than worthy of 88
He’s lived up to 88 and going to go further than I ever did!
I wanna see it and I support him 1000%
Talking dumb the way you do is why your show ratings low!
It’s 88 Club over here don’t ever get it twisted
— Dez Bryant (@DezBryant) October 20, 2023
However, Dez had Lamb’s back by saying, “Ceedee Lamb is him!” He went one up by saying how CeeDee Lamb has already lived up to the prestigious No. 88 and will go further than he ever did. Also, he added how he will support CeeDee all the way. However, he didn’t stop there and hit Skip where it would hurt him the most. Bryant directly called out Bayless’ dumb takes the reason for Undisputed not doing well on the ratings chart. At last, he sent a clear message to never doubt the bond between him and all other Cowboys players who made No.88 iconic.

Was Dez Bryant Too Harsh?
Skip has never been the one to shy away from speaking what’s on his mind, and sometimes, it has repercussions. The former First Take member has always criticized players for their on-field performance, and sometimes it’s gonna fire back. If Skip can take a shot at a player’s performance, so can they. Now, everything isn’t Bayless’s fault alone when it comes to low ratings compared to his ESPN counterpart, but the same can be said for a player’s performance, too. Dez had every right to give his side of the story and take a jab at Skip.

To criticize someone might not always be a bad thing. Players get called out often for their poor performance by sports analysts, and they go on to improve. Who knows, this might light some fire under Skip. FS1 would sure hope so.
