Dan Orlovsky’s recent comment on the quarterback, Brock Purdy was rejected. While discussing the New England Patriots‘ struggle this season, especially on the offense, the retired quarterback added his views on Mac Jones‘s performance. Not to mention, fans and teammates of Purdy did not take his thoughts very positively.
According to Orlovsky, Jones’s performance might be hindered by his team’s ‘play-calling and offensive schemes’. And, if Mac Jones were in San Francisco, he would be playing like Brock Purdy. Soon enough, the 49ers’ TE, George Kittle, decided to stand up for his teammate QB after he saw the news in the morning.

According to KNBR’s latest post on Instagram, George Kittle responded to Dan Orlovsky defending his team’s quarterback. Kittle clearly stated that Orlovsky’s comment was very disrespectful to Purdy and that he should get to know how the QB plays.

He said, “You look at his stats. Just watch the tape. People just say, ‘Oh, I see his stats. I see some of the things they talk about on Sunday Night Football. Like just watch him move in the pocket. Watch some of these throws that he’s making.”
Orlovsky’s comparison was indeed disrespectful. Not only did it suggest that Jones would play as well as Purdy with the 49ers, but it also discredited QB Purdy’s capabilities and achievements. Orlovsky’s suggestion that the 49ers were responsible for his success led Kittle to speak more and praise his teammate.

The Tight End agreed that there’s room for improvement in all of them and that they can all get better. He said that everyone is always paying the most attention to Purdy as he’s the quarterback for the 49ers, and someone always wants to say something about him. George Kittle then went on to say that Orlovsky must watch the tape and pay attention to what Purdy does in every single game.
“It’s phenomenal,” he ended. However, the player did not refute the fact that the 49ers’ strong offensive line is an important factor in the success of their quarterbacks. Orlovsky defended himself regardless, insisting that he was not trying to demean Brock Purdy but simply commented on Mac Jones’s potential.

Some people even think the comparison was unfair to Purdy as he did not have the same opportunities as Mac Jones to prove himself on the NFL field. What do you think?
