Rapoport provided details on the Tennessee Titans trading All-Pro DB Kevin Byard to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for two draft picks and a safety. He posted on his X account, specifying the terms: “Full terms: The #Eagles get Kevin Byard. — The #Titans get [26 YO] S Terrell Edmunds and a 5th and 6th rounder.”

On the podcast ‘The Edge,’ Cowboys sensation Micah Parsons shared his thoughts, saying, “Big trade I talked about earlier. Kevin Byard brings to the Eagles’ defense. I think you get a ball hunter, right?” He lauded Byard’s ability to create turnovers and his veteran leadership, adding, “You get a guy who’s going to get out the ball, create turnovers for you. Guy’s going to come down here, not afraid…,” Parsons also emphasized, “I mean, you adding all these vets into your back end, truly special.”

Byard’s 2023 deal shift

Tennessee Titans stalwart Kevin Byard, aged 31 and a third-round gem from the 2016 draft, faced a contract restructuring ahead of the 2023 season. Titans’ new GM, Ran Carthon, successfully restructured Byard’s contract in July. This savvy move ensures Byard will earn $4 million this season while securing $9.6 million for 2024, without imposing any salary cap burdens.

However, the Titans are set to receive the Eagles’ 2024 fifth and sixth-round draft picks in an impending trade, addressing a significant gap in Philadelphia’s roster. The Eagles, with a 6-1 record, are eager to compensate for the loss of 5-foot-11, 212-pound Byard, their top pick from the 2016 third round. Byard, a starter since 2017, boasts 27 interceptions.
