The QBs on Monday Night Football proved why they are considered the most influential players on the team. After giving the due credit to all the Vikings‘ players who absolutely smashed the Niners on the field, we can come to Kirk Cousins. The player put up one of the best performances of his career. Although he did miss a couple of close-call catches, it does not overshadow his completed catches.

It is no secret that the QB’s performance has been on an uphill trend for the last few years. This year it is marginally better than last year, and so was the Vikings Monday’s game as compared to their previous game. This is why Tony Aikman, the former Cowboys QB, lists him as a personal favorite.

Aikman sees the work Cousins has put behind in improving his performance day by day. In their previous game against the Bears, Cousins’ completion percentage was 67.7%, as compared to 77.8% against the 49ers. Not to mention, this is the best completion percentage of this season so far by him. Acknowledging the positive change Cousins has brought in his performance, Aikman called him “Kirk Cousins is a Top 10 quarterback in my book.”

This season, Cousins has bagged 2057 yards, with 16 TDs, with 5 interceptions hanging beside. Among this, 378 yards, two touchdowns, and one INT are credited to the MNF against the 49ers. That is great, looking back at the relationship the Vikings had with their QB. Within a span of 7 weeks, the Vikings have lost 4 games. After having a very challenging start, the Vikings bounced back and so did their QB.

Vikings and Kirk Cousins

Even though the Vikings offense has not been a major setback for the Vikings, it did struggle heavily at the inception of the regular season. With losses coming in heavy, the team was looking for a comeback. Which it successfully made against the once-season-dominating 49ers. Cousins has been with the Vikings through thick and thin. The QB has led the team into two playoff appearances, 2019 and 2022, along with a postseason appearance.

Likewise, the Vikings have been with their QB through thick and thin. Cousins, too, had a rocky start this season. However, between week 1 and week 7, the QB’s performance has marginally improved, looking at the Monday Night Football game. The Vikings offense is now in its best form, which was evident in WR Jordan Addison, as well as TE TJ Hockenson’s performance at the US Banks stadium for the team. With a pace like this, the Vikings can expect a postseason appearance this season, maybe even a playoff appearance. Let us know what you think about it in the comments.
