After losing to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2, the Lions went on to humiliate the Falcons with a 20-8 loss. And the week 4 results have now been announced, which has pushed the team up in the rankings. Turns out, the Lions made a smarter deal than the Packers in the 2023 NFL draft.

Detroit felt a sense of pride, as their newly recruited defensive back, Brian Branch, worked his magic on the field today. He made a huge impact on the team and guided them to victory. In addition, the analysis of Ryan Clark was proven right, as he called the rookie to be a steal for the Lions.

In April 2023, the Lions traded Brian Branch with the Green Bay Packers in the 2023 NFL draft. Well, this came back to punish the Packers in today’s game, as Branch had an immense influence throughout the match. He successfully tackled his opponents five times and was able to defend one pass as well.

Right after the game, the ESPN sports analyst, Marcus Spears, reminded the fans about the statements made by the former Steelers Safety, Ryan Clark, about the new DB recruit. Spears made a post on X (Formerly Twitter) , where he wrote, “Man [Ryan Clark] said at the draft Branch was gonna be the steal and he is the steal as of today in the draft“. This was reposted by Clark and he wrote, “Told ya fam.”

This back-and-forth was well deserved as the performance of Branch in just four games has been commendable. However, for a moment during the Packers game, the fans were anxious as Branch was pulled off the third quarter.

In his 2023 NFL draft, Branch became the fourth Alabama player that join the league in the first round. Nonetheless, he’s currently the top-tier player of the Lions, as he managed the defensive lineup of the team quite well. However, in the game against the Packers, Branch dropped down on the field early in the second half. The audience held their breath as the phenomenal rookie DB couldn’t get up.

Even in Week 1, he faced an injury scare. This time, he had twisted his ankle while trying to block a running play. This sent a wave of anxiety across the Lambeau Field. He was taken to the locker room, as fans waited for the update on his injury. Fortunately, Branch made his return in the fourth quarter after his treatment. Post-game, Branch told the NFL Network that his X-rays indicated, “Nothing broken.”

So the rookie already has won a lot of hearts, and it’d have been a waste of great plays if he had made it to the injury report.
