Following Thursday’s game, Khalil Herbert appeared to be handling his ankle injury well, initially believing it wouldn’t sideline him for an extended period. However, it has since become apparent that his injury is more severe than he had initially thought. The Chicago Bears are now facing additional challenges as their star running back, Khalil Herbert, is set to miss several weeks, just as the offense was showing improvement.

Injuries have dealt a heavy blow to the Bears’ running backs, with Roschon Johnson suffering a concussion and Travis Homer injuring his hamstring. As a result, D’Onta Foreman is now the sole healthy runner on the team, adding to the team’s woes.

Despite the Bears securing a significant victory, defeating the Washington Commanders 40-20 in Week 5 of the 2023 NFL season, 25 YO Herbert sustained a severe injury while making a challenging catch that marred their win. His ankle twisted badly, with his cleat getting stuck. He attempted to continue playing but fell immediately upon putting weight on it, marking a tough break for him.

NFL insider Tom Pelissero reports that Bears’ RB Khalil Herbert is expected to miss “multiple weeks” due to the ankle injury he suffered during Thursday’s win over the Washington Commanders. Herbert may be sidelined for up to a month, and there is a possibility that the Bears may place him on Injured Reserve, causing him to miss four games at a minimum, with a potential return not earlier than Week 10.

The Bears have some time to decide on 5 ft 9 in Herbert’s status since they played on Thursday in Week 5, with the deadline for roster decisions not until the following Saturday.
