Ignore all the distracting and heartbreaking news coming from the NFC. Enough about the Giants, the Jets and the Bears losing. It’s time for some light-hearted tush-push banter. The Philadelphia Eagles offense has taken the world by storm with their rather unconventional tactics to break enemy barriers. Now, the team has made quite a habit of it even though at some point, it was an illegal move in the NFL.

However, now, the team doesn’t hesitate to use it and the players on the sidelines rather look forward to the tush-push banter. It got to a point when the ManningCast hosts couldn’t stop themselves from making butt jokes in a Giants game on MNF. Well, as long as they are winning, the banter is okay.

The Philadelphia Eagles’ cheat code

The Philly team recently uploaded a video on X titled “BROTHERLY SHOVE”. The footage shows the LB Haason Reddick saying, ‘Tush Push, they callin’ that s*** tush push, that’s crazy’. Apparently, a lot of people have problems with the play, as it used to be banned till the early 2000s. But the NFL has lifted the ban and the Eagles don’t miss any chance they can get to go for that brotherly shove. Long before this, the rules of gridiron didn’t allow the defensive players to push the O-line to make such an attempt.

The Eagles have one of the most solid offensive lines in their arsenal and add Jason Kelce to the equation, the team’s O-line is basically unstoppable. Kelce recently mentioned in the New Heights podcast that the Philly team has been served notices regarding the play. He didn’t mention the contents of the notice.

It has become quite an offensive cheat code for the team, as they proved its value once again in the last game against the Commanders, which the Eagles won by the length of a hair.

The Cons of Tush Push

The play isn’t all happy-go-lucky as it is portrayed to be, some players have been injured while trying the maneuver. It is safe to say that the play is not easy to make at all. The Giants HC mentioned how John Michael Schmitz and Daniel Bellinger took a hit in the last game while trying out the move. We can keep building upon what’s facts and what’s not, but it looks like the NFL might have to resort to banning the play, once again. This is because some teams are not happy with this ‘cheat code’ and have filed pleas to ban the play.

What is clear right now is that nobody is doing the shove better than the Eagles right now. Born out of this jealousy are the efforts of their rivals to perpetuate the ban. The 4-0 Eagles have tried the move in nearly all their games. What’s interesting is, that they did it 4 times in the game against Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Talk about overdoing things.

But why would the Eagles stop doing something that’s actually working out for them? There is no reason to switch plays till the NFL decides to ban the play once again.
