The unfortunate 49ers loss has brought the walls down on Brock Purdy. After being on Cloud 9 for a while, he is getting a stringent Dak Prescott treatment. Fans and NFL journalists alike are digging through old files to find dirt on Brock Purdy. This might have started when Shannon Sharpe dubbed him as a ‘product of the system’ and he hasn’t bounced back. Has deviating from the system caused Purdy’s downfall? Or is it just a bump on the road?

Earlier, the justification for his failure was backed by the absence of George Kittle, CMC, and Deebo Samuel at different points in time. However, they were all there in the Vikings game (except Samuel) and Purdy’s team still failed to execute the prime directive, which was winning.

A bittersweet season for Brock Purdy

An interesting tweet just showed up from the NFL researcher Tony Holzman that shows an in-depth cumulative analysis of Brock Purdy’s stats this season. The shocking drop in performance in the last quarter is both perplexing and comprehensible at the same time. While Purdy displays excellence in the 1-3 quarter of the game, there is a significant loss in his performance by the end of the game. But no matter how one digs through the numbers, it is impossible to play the game with the same vigor throughout.

According to these stats, Purdy has a whopping 71.5% pass completion rate from quarter 1-3, while he sits at 9.2 passing yards per attempt. He also throws about 9 passes that lead to a touchdown while being intercepted once every 3 quarters. By the end of 3 quarters, Purdy maintained a passer rating of 117.1 which dropped to 71.5 by the end of the 4 quarter. Not only that, but his passes also go on a cold streak with a completion rate of 54.8%. Another interesting thing to note here is how one interception turns into two.

This drop in performance is logical because being on the field for so long is tiring and he might not have adequate physical and mental strength to complete the game with the same spirit he started with. Speaking of broken spirits, Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey are taking all the heat right now.

The CMC Train comes to a halt

Christian McCaffrey scored two touchdowns in a single game. He has been keeping this streak of scoring at least one touchdown in a game and so far; he is doing a good job of it. CMC might not be doing it to set a record, but here he is, at the top but still feeling sad. The RB recently came out to the media and took the blame for the 49ers’ loss because he fumbled the ball near the end zone in the 1 quarter.

He took the blame by saying that it was a ‘bad mistake’ to fumble the ball and looked like he was about to burst out. It looks like the 49ers have a lot of tapes to watch and a lot of homework to do before the battle against Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. The team still stands at the top of the NFC North, but they might have to win the next game by any chance if they want to keep this position.
