Brock Purdy’s MVP-caliber, for good reasons!
Just 23 YO QB Purdy is performing exceptionally well this season, with an impressive completion percentage and yardage. He has started in 13 games, with 18 touchdowns, four interceptions, and an undefeated record of 9-0. Show host Evan Cohen points out that Purdy’s completion percentage is even higher than Tua Tagovailoa’s, who is known for his accuracy. Cohen states, “In my mind, he [Purdy] is just one game, Sunday night football against the Cowboys, away from being a legitimate MVP candidate.”
During an ESPN Radio show, co-host Michelle Smallmon asked former NFL player Chris Canty whether he thought Brock Purdy would be a better fit for the New York Giants than Daniel Jones. Canty responded affirmatively, saying, “Because he gets the ball out of his hands quicker than Daniel Jones does.” Obviously praised Purdy’s quick decision-making and ability to read the game, comparing his thinking to the successful coach Kyle Shanahan.
Canty also highlighted Purdy’s role in the San Francisco 49ers’ winning streak, emphasizing that, “This is a team that’s rolling; they’re in the middle of winning 14 straight regular-season games, and Brock has been the starter for the lion’s share of those games.” Canty exclaimed that they wanted to credit the head coach but also had to give credit to the quarterback. In his view, Brock Purdy is a good player and a good quarterback.

The 49ers have two MVP candidates
Staff writer for The Athletic, David Lombardi, suggests, “The 49ers have 2 MVP candidates: Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey.” Lombardi presented his argument in a video, noting that McCaffrey leads the entire NFL in all-purpose yardage with 600 all-purpose yards through four games. He also leads the NFL in rushing yardage.

Moreover, among all quarterbacks, Purdy has the highest QBR by a wide margin, surpassing Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen. In a recent game, Purdy completed over 95% of his passes, while Christian McCaffrey scored four touchdowns. Having two MVP candidates on the same team bodes well for the San Francisco 49ers’ success.

In the end, Lombardi argues that there should be no argument about who deserves more credit between McCaffrey and Purdy because they are teammates.
