A tweet from former Steelers star Ryan Clark is causing a stir on social media. He mixed up two NFL players because they share the same first name, Brian, but Clark ended up referencing the wrong one. However, there’s more to this story than just a simple typo.

This isn’t merely a funny mistake; in fact, Pro Bowl Safety Ryan Clark intended to write some positive comments about Lions rookie Brian Branch for his outstanding performance in his third NFL game. Although excitement accidentally turned into a hilarious moment.

According to a recent tweet, ex-Steelers star safety Ryan Clark confused rookie Lions player Brian Branch with Panthers’ defensive end, Brian Burns, despite both NFL players having the first name “Brian.” This mix-up in last names garnered attention on X (formerly Twitter). Clark wrote, “Detriot’s rookie Brian Burns doesn’t even take his mouthpiece out of his helmet, but man he sure does play his butt off.” In excitement, Clark added, “Been extremely impressed with his activity in the run game.”

In reality, former football safety meant to refer to Brian Branch, a 21-year-old rookie for the Detroit Lions who plays in the safety position and was drafted in 2023. On the other hand, Brian Burns, a 25-year-old 2-time Pro Bowl linebacker, plays for the Carolina Panthers and was drafted by the Panthers in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Last week in the NFL against the Falcons, New Lions player Brian Branch did something in his first game that’s never happened before in NFL history! Had a great game with 11 tackles, stopped opponents behind the line three times, and deflected two passes. Since 1999, 11 players had tackles, passes defended, and tackles for loss in a game. A linebacker did it 10 times. Only Branch, a defensive back, joined the list, which drove NFL analyst Ryan Clark crazy.

Brian Branch moves smoothly and keeps up with the receiver throughout the entire route, which is a good start for him. The Lions’ defense did much better, and Brian Branch had a fantastic game – a big win for both the team and him.
