The San Francisco 49ers are at a different level of fame right now, or so one would think. The last game against the Dallas Cowboys helped Brock Purdy and the 49ers to get to places that otherwise would have cost them a lot of time and resources. Thankfully, John Lynch and his investments worked out and gave the 49ers the edge they needed. However, now, there are debates about whether Brock Purdy is really the best or not.

Shannon Sharpe of the First Take didn’t hesitate to take shots at Brock Purdy and has his reasons behind the argument. Regardless of the chatter, Purdy has proved himself time and time again. But how long till the apprehension behind Purdy stops? Is it valid to still question him even after the team beat the richest sports franchise?

Brock Purdy is snake oil?

Not in those exact words, but, per Shannon Sharpe, Purdy doesn’t belong in the best QB category. He thinks that the 49ers letting Trey Lance go was a huge mistake on their behalf. His main argument stems from the fact that Brock Purdy has been handed everything to him. Coach Shanahan is doing an incredible job molding the 49ers around Brock Purdy. But this is where Shannon comes from, he mentions that if Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk, and Kyle Shanahan were to be removed from the 49ers, Brock Purdy wouldn’t be where he is now.

“He’s a product of a system” mentions Sharpe in the First Take episode.

A fan negated his statements and said that John Lynch has done what he was paid to do, that is, put up an exceptional roster together, which he did. Kyle Shanahan had to make sure he was justifying his salary by winning the games, which he has done. The ‘System’ talk didn’t sit well with this fan. It didn’t stop there as Sharpe replied back saying that Purdy wouldn’t go 3 overall, but he believed that while Lynch did a great job, letting Trey Lance go was a mistake.

But is Brock Purdy really nothing without Kyle Shanahan, although he is rated the No. 1 QB in the league? That seems like a far-fetched idea.

San Fran’s star QB having an excellent season

Despite all the chatter, it is safe to say that Brock Purdy is having a blast on the field. His passes are connecting, he seems to find whoever he needs to find, and he is also executing Shanahan’s game plan perfectly. What more could one ask for? Well, he has gone beyond to deliver what was asked of him by winning more than 10 regular season games consecutively and gaining a seat beside Tom Brady. On top of that, he is helping his teammates George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey in getting those touchdowns. So much so that both Kittle and CMC have now set some records of their own.

The question is, while all this comparison and stat matching is going on, is Brock Purdy really not performing well? Doesn’t every team need a coach’s vision to follow through and win the games? If in the end, it’s all about numbers, then why is there a commotion? The Eagles have also won all 5 games, but there is a serious problem with their offense’s ability to get to the red zone, at least the 49ers are not facing the same problem.
