In a classic gridiron showdown, the Los Angeles Rams encountered their second stumble of the season, bumping into the steel curtain of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Rams wrapped up the contest with a 17-24 deficit on the scoreboard. Even with rookie sensation Puka Nacua putting on a show, the Rams couldn’t help but shake their heads. Nacua, the fifth-round dynamo, hauled in eight passes, tallying an electrifying 154 yards, and lighting up the field.
Alas, not all that glitters is gold! In the shadows of the bright rookie performance, star receiver Cooper Kupp had a day to forget. His stat line? Almost invisible, with just two receptions for a mere 29 yards. Kupp fumbled the ball early, missing two key catches, and his sole reception in the latter half came on a gutsy Rams two-point conversion attempt. But as they say in the NFL, it ain’t over ’til it’s over. What really threw the Rams for a loop was the zebras in stripes, who made a game-changing decision that tipped the scales in favor of the Steelers.

Referee drama: Did the Rams fall victim to a muffed-up call?
The Rams have been struggling to get that all-important winning streak going, and it feels like it’s been ages since they’ve had a taste of momentum. You’d have to go back to the early days of the 2022 season to find the last time they strung together two victories. Quite the drought for a franchise that hoisted the Lombardi Trophy just two years ago in Super Bowl LVI.

But just when you thought they might break the curse, the Steelers pulled off a fourth-and-one miracle with Kenny Pickett’s quarterback sneak, right at the nail-biting two-minute warning. At first glance, it looked like they fell just short of converting, but the refs had other ideas. They called it a muffed call, and it ended up being a game-deciding first down for Pittsburgh. With no timeouts left and the clock ticking inside that treacherous two-minute warning zone, Rams coach Sean McVay was left with no challenge in his arsenal.
And in the age of instant replays and social media sleuths, the controversy didn’t take long to catch fire. NFL detective Dov Kleiman took to the ‘X’ social media platform to drop a video bombshell, captioning it, “Another video showing a closer look. The Refs stole another game for the home team. How does it happen this much on the same day?” So, was the Rams’ loss due to their own shortcomings, or did it all come down to a game-altering external decision?

Steelers strike gold: A mojo-packed victory over Rams
The Pittsburgh Steelers finally dialed in the performance many predicted at the start of this NFL season. In all three facets of the game, Mike Tomlin’s crew took control in the second half, sealing the deal with a 24-17 victory over the Rams. They’ve got that sweet mojo flowing, and the Steel Curtain is about to descend on Acrisure Stadium, their hallowed home turf. Next up, they’ll lock horns with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
