Once again, history has repeated itself. The NFL is again at the center of a growing debate surrounding player safety. Recently, on Monday Night Football, the game between the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Giants ignited discussions beyond just the final score. Even though the final score was good news for the Seahawks as they won 3-24.

A controversy involving the Seahawks’ quarterback Geno Smith and linebacker Isaiah Simmons is gaining popularity. After the win, the QB made some brutal comments that might not be liked by the linebacker and it has now taken the Internet by storm.

During the match, the quarterback was tackled by the linebacker of the Giants. That did not sit well with Smith. The technique that Simmons used made Smith miss the next two series, one of which included a touchdown by Drew Lock under center. Even though Simmons wasn’t penalized for this move, Smith had to sit out for a while with a knee injury.

Tom Pelissero took to his X (Formerly Twitter) account to inform about the news. He added that after the game, Smith was fined $10,927 for not showing sportsmanlike behavior on-field. He captioned, “The NFL didn’t fine #Giants LB Isaiah Simmons for the tackle that temporarily sidelined #Seahawks QB Geno Smith on Monday night, but did fine Smith $10,927 for unsportsmanlike conduct — barking at the defense after he returned to the game.”

When asked after the game, Smith said it was ‘Dirty Play’. But he was thankful that he could get back in the game after. Fans have also reacted to this incident, which doesn’t seem to support the NFL.

Fans remark that the NFL is getting softer

Out of many, one fan said that the NFL is getting softer and is not punishing people as much. Mantan Karr posted on his X account sharing his thoughts on the platform.

According to him, the NFL could have handled this in a better way if not worse. He highlighted that fact and said on his X account, “The NFL gets softer day by day.” To add more emphasis, he also added a laughing emoji at the end.

Another fan added that it happened because it was Monday night.

One more fan showcased his emotions by saying that the NFL wasn’t paying attention to the player’s safety.

Not only that, one fan went ahead to say that the NFL is a joke.
