The Lions are concerned about a significant injury to their tight end, Sam LaPorta. To fans’ horror, the injury may prevent him from playing in an important Week 6 conference game against the Buccaneers. TE LaPorta is currently dealing with a calf injury for Week 6, and his availability is a game-time decision.

According to an insider, Detroit will assess LaPorta’s condition on Sunday during warm-ups. Unless an unforeseen setback occurs, he should be able to participate in the game. The player had some limited practice on Friday, and the team has indicated that he might play on Sunday, although they remain uncertain.

Rookie LaPorta suffered a calf injury during Thursday’s practice this week. Today, as reported by NFL insider Adam Schefter, it is expected that Lions’ 6 ft 3 in TE, who is listed as questionable for Sunday due to a calf injury, will work out pre-game to determine his availability. The situation is “expected to work out pre-game to finalize whether he can play, but it is trending in the right direction,” according to Schefter’s source.

If LaPorta is unable to play, it will have a detrimental impact on the Lions’ passing game. The rookie tight end has recorded 25 receptions for 289 yards and 3 touchdowns this season. Reportedly, LaPorta has expressed his intention to play on Sunday, stating, “It’s football, things pop up, and I’m feeling much better now.”

As of the report on October 14, seven Detroit Lions players will not be available for Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers due to injuries.

The Lions and Buccaneers are scheduled to kick off at 4:25 p.m. ET, but the Lions are grappling with a multitude of injuries. According to Side Lion Report, cornerback Emmanuel Moseley and running back Zonovan Knight will be out for the season due to injuries sustained in Week 5 against the Panthers. Jahmyr Gibbs, Brian Branch, and Amon-Ra St. Brown, along with Jonah Jackson, are uncertain for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers.

Gibbs and Branch will miss their second consecutive game, presumably due to ongoing injuries. Craig Reynolds will serve as the backup for David Montgomery, and Will Harris will fill in for Branch at the slot corner position.
