Some scrutiny is in the air for the Philadelphia Eagles and the infamous tush push to sneak the quarterback. For some, it is an unfair advantage, and for the others who try, it turns out to be a risky affair. Does that mean that the brotherly shove is unfair? Well, there are contentions about the matter that the NFL might investigate soon. But till then, the Eagles fans should rejoice.
The Miami Dolphins journalist Joe Schad finally let his frustrations out in his latest tweet. There is an underlying tone of dismay in his tweet, but the message is very clear. Although no one could get the move banned, the NFL is looking into the possibilities of doing so. But before that happens, the ‘hip-drop’ move will face the ramifications before the tush push does.

The tweet from the Dolphins’ journalist mentions how the tush push is not a legitimate football play. The possibility of contracting an injury becomes twofold when the players start to push the quarterback on the enemy lines. A lot of players have been injured trying to run the play, including two of the Giants’ linemen. Schad dubbed the play as ‘lame’ and was sure that the play would be banned in the off-season. Speaking of bans, the hip-drop play has also caught the NFL’s attention.
The Tush Push is not a legitimate football play. It’s not how football was meant to be played. It’s also lame and can cause injuries. Nobody except Eagles fans will miss it once it’s banned in the off-season.

During a hip drop, the defensive player latches on the back of the player who has the ball in an effort to bring him down. Tony Pollard paid the price when he was tackled down and broke his leg and ankle. Even Patrick Mahomes couldn’t escape the drop and was injured in the affair. The play is considered ‘dirty’ and exponentially increases the chances of injury. The team owners are having a serious discussion on banning both these moves for good.
After Mahomes yesterday another textbook high ankle sprain mechanism for Tony Pollard. This one appears worse, additional concern for fracture. Hip drop tackle again too – not always a “dirty” play but a technique with high risk of injury to ball carrier pic.twitter.com/1Tl78OFkPo

Considering the fact that the Eagles are the only team that knows the ins and outs of the play, the ban would take away a very important tool from their arsenal.
Brotherly shove getting the best of the Dolphins
As much as the Dolphins tried, they were not able to stop the Philly team from doing what they did best. They used the play in their own side of the grass on fourth and one. Over the last two years, the Eagles have a 93.2% success rate on the play and no one has been able to replicate it as well as the Philly team has. Nick Sirianni seems to endorse the play quite heavily, even though he is aware of the risks at hand.

However, the play is mostly used in a specific condition, which is the fourth one. “I’m making my plug right there. Like don’t ban this play. Like if everyone could do it, everybody would,” Sirianni mentioned to CBS Sports. The Eagles have made an enemy of the other teams and their owners, as there is a petition to ban the move. The owners are moving fast to get the play banned and the reason for this is ‘player safety’
