We speculated that Brock Purdy would blow up after the game against the 49ers. Well, he did more than what we expected. While the world is talking crap about Dak Prescott, here is a QB that excelled in every match that he plays. So much so that he found his place besides Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Praises just don’t stop flooding in for the future MVP, so much so that Purdy might have to change his jersey number to 16. Why?
Well, he has had such an impact on the team that ex-NFL coach Rex Ryan also jumped on the Purdy wave and had a few words of his own. He holds Purdy in the highest regard, and it is an understatement. A recent tweet from JPA Football tells us more about it. Purdy has one more accolade under his belt now.

Rex Ryan compared Brock Purdy to the ex-49ers legend Joe Montana. Why? Because his career has been nothing short of stellar. It would take quite some time to analyze his career. But in essence, per Ryan, Brock Purdy should be donning a no. 16 jersey as an homage to 8-time Pro Bowler Joe Montana. Maybe Ryan sees Purdy heading in the same direction after he secured a place beside Tom Brady after winning 10 regular season games straight. This also includes games from last season as well.
“Just put a no. 16 on his jersey”, says Ryan as the opener.

Ryan was in awe of Brock Purdy’s persona. He praises his ability to make accurate passes, his mobility, and the swagger he has. And of course, this is his version of relating him to Joe Montana. Brock Purdy is gunning for greatness and quickly becomes the talk of the town. Why? Because after this last game, he has a serious chance of a 2023 MVP candidacy. According to Fox, Purdy has 3rd best odds in the NFL to become the MVP.
Joe Montana played 13 seasons with the 49ers after which he moved on to the Kansas City Chiefs for the final leg of his career. Maybe Brock Purdy is here to stick with the 49ers for at least a decade or more. Who knows what the numero uno QB in the league has in store for him?
The Purdy and Montana debate
Don’t know whether the comparison is correct or not, but this 49ers win streak doesn’t look like a fluke at all. Although Purdy’s stardom is in its nascency, it remains to be seen if he will be at a point in the future where he will have more than 40,000 passing yards to his name or not. For now, he is doing an exceptional job with the amazing 49ers offense surrounding him. The 42-10 win has put quite a dent in the Cowboys’ reputation, so much so that the internet is fuming and trolling at the same time.

But regardless, Brock Purdy might just get his first MVP soon. What really gets our attention is the fact that the QB has risen to fame in just a span of 5 games, and we don’t know what more to ask of him. The next game against the Browns seems like a cakewalk and would help Purdy put more yards in his pocket. For now, he is the No. 1 QB in the game and he might be for a long time, despite all the naysayer’s beliefs.
