In a recent press conference, Baker Mayfield was asked why people don’t hear Jared Goff’s name in the GOAT debate and what his thoughts on him were. He jumps the gun and immediately says, “Jared’s a stud,” then goes on to highlight how he has the most nuanced things in control.
Per Mayfield, Jared Goff has just got started and he thinks that Goff has got everything that he needs to make it at the top of the ladder, or at least close to the top. It’s not like Goff is short of any accolades, but for some reason, people don’t want to bring him into the GOAT debate. Whenever Goff is the subject matter, there is a massive divide between people who think that he deserves the top spot, and there are others who don’t.
Baker Mayfield on Jared Goff not being mentioned among some of the top NFL quarterbacks: “Coming from somebody that needed a fresh start as well, Jared’s a stud. … The sneaky thing about his game is his play-action and all his fakes and stuff. He’s really, really good at that.” pic.twitter.com/ngd6C3tlcz

This was best exemplified by a recent tweet from NFL Notifications week 6 rankings.
Goff is a top baller
The tweet in question shows Jared Goff at 8 position, just behind Patrick Mahomes and Russell Wilson. Of course, Brock Purdy is the king of the hill, but that doesn’t mean Goff can’t reach there.
Ratings are subjective at some point because ESPN rates Goff 5 on the list of quarterbacks. Another notable thing is, that the Detroit Lions have made quite a name for themselves ever since they hired Jared Goff to be their QB1.
