The 49ers were on cloud 9, but not anymore. Their winning streak came to an end with the Cleveland Browns. It’s being said that it was the 49ers’ complacent nature that came as a last straw as they lost to the Browns 17-19. Not only that, some of the major 49ers’ players have also been injured in this game. What a day for the Cleveland Browns. They made a major mark on the NFL in this game. Post-game, Trent Williams had to speak his mind.

On the flip side of things, Shanahan and the whole squad seem really upset. Some going even as far as to say that Brock Purdy is a product of the “system” and much more. David Lombardi’s latest tweet tells us what went down and what Trent Williams’ thoughts are as a 49er.

The tweet by Lombardi might give us an idea of how complacent the 49ers got after the Cowboys win. But the tweet from Lombardi has an excerpt from Williams. Williams mentioned to Lombardi that the 49ers didn’t deserve to win this game. Although the 49ers defense was tight, they still struggled to snatch a win. “It’s a dog fight” mentioned Williams in response to Lombardi.

Trent Williams accepts the fact that the team has still a lot to learn and that this game was an eye-opener for them. According to him, the team played bad offense at the start, but by the later stages of the game, they started to improve. By that time, it was too late. Adding to the field goal that the 49ers missed ended up costing them the whole game. Williams mentions defending the 49ers, “But when we needed the plays at the end, we made ’em in the two-minute drive. We just came up a little bit short.”

Questions surrounding the San Francisco 49ers

Just like what happened to the Cowboys, it didn’t take long for the media and the fans to slander the 49ers. At some point, Shannon Sharpe called Brock Purdy out and said that he’d be nothing without Shanahan, Deebo Samuel, and Brandon Aiyuk. Samuel didn’t play for the better part of the game, and the 49ers lost. There is a consensus that says that the Browns gave the game their everything, and the 49ers failed to do so.

Additionally, lots of praise is coming in for the Cleveland Browns’ defense. They did a pretty good job of keeping the 49ers away from their turf and didn’t miss any chance to get points. It goes to show that anything can happen in the big leagues. There is always an underdog waiting for the top teams to slip up. The outcome of the game was unexpected, to say the least. Also, the 49ers have some injured players after the game. Deebo Samuel had a shoulder injury mid-game and Christian McCaffrey suffered an oblique injury.
