One of the highly anticipated games will go down in Week 7 of the 2023 season. The two teams with a 5-1 score, the Philadelphia Eagles and Miami Dolphins, will face each other this Sunday evening. It will be a clash between the best of the best, and NFL fans can enjoy the preview of the Super Bowl LVIII. Since this is such an important matchup, the Eagles have also notched it up by bringing back their beloved Kelly Green jersey that was predominant during the ’80s and ’90s.
Before this, they sported a dark green jersey, which became the norm for the Eagles after 1996. However, there was a time in 2010 when the Birds wore Kelly Green as a throwback. After 13 years, the team has partnered with Jimmy Gorecki’s JSP clothing to turn the dreams of the Eagles’ fans into a reality. Some fans even voiced their opinions about the jersey.

The fans went wild after the announcement that the Eagles players would be donning the Kelly Green jersey as a tribute. The impact is also huge as it will be against one of the best teams in the season besides them, so a dream jersey being worn on a dream matchup isn’t something the fans get to see every day.
The Eagles owner had already told the fans in late March that they’ll bring back the Kelly Green this season. He stated that the fans really want it, and they’re just trying to take the feedback seriously this time. According to NBC Philadelphia, one fan talked about her enthusiasm in an interview. She said, “We’ve been waiting for this for so, so long. I’m obsessed.”
So, it will be incredible for the Birds, and there are chances that 50% of the Lincoln Financial Field will be painted green in the presence of the Eagles’ fans.
The old-timers also supported this change
In 2013-14, the NFL made a rule that made it challenging to introduce alternate jerseys for the teams. The rule states that the players could only wear one helmet per season, which made it quite a hassle for the teams to cater to the fans. However, that rule was made a bit less stringent, and the teams took full advantage of it. The Eagles are doing the same now.
The Kelly look was made famous by the star players in the past who donned it. The legendary quarterback, Randall Cunningham, who dominated the field dressed in Kelly Green, also helped in the relaunch this week. He even exchanged jerseys with the present QB, Jalen Hurts.
