Everything looked gloomy in the San Francisco 49ers’ land for an entire week. From dropping one in Cleveland to their star players getting injured left and right, the nightmare appeared to be never-ending. As if that was not enough, all of these players even missed their weekly practice. But finally, there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel in the form of Christian McCaffrey.
The star running back had some positive news to share after getting on the field for the first time since his last game. Niners’ faithful should heave a sigh of relief after hearing what No.23 had to say. Interestingly, this news has been accompanied by the injury report surrounding the 27-year-old, Deebo Samuels.

Earlier, in the press conference, Kyle Shanahan informed the reporters about Deebo Samuels missing the next 2 weeks due to a hairline fracture in his shoulder. This news sucked the air out of the 49ers nation as they were hopeful of his return against the Minnesota Vikings. The best QB according to QBR, Brock Purdy looked like a 7th-rounder when facing man coverage without Samuels and CMC in week 6.
It was Purdy’s worst performance (10.5 QBR against Browns’ man coverage) of his young career. McCaffrey is one of the most valuable assets to the 49ers engine and the one to get throwing lanes open for Mr Irrelevant. However, the footballer had to exit mid-game last time because of an oblique injury which had caused concerns for fans and team alike.
Nonetheless, when asked about his availability for Monday Night, CMC seemed optimistic. He further stated how every one of them has to step up in the absence of Samuel’s injury. When asked about his fear of exaggerating his own quad by playing on Monday, he downplayed it by saying “I feel great.”

Additionally, the football star was seen taking part in the practice session of the team before they headed out to Minnesota. However, getting him back soon on the field comes with a caveat.
Should CMC be rushed back to action?

CMC’s presence would be greatly appreciated by Shanahan as it would help him to draw some creative plays. This might also lower the burden from Purdy’s young shoulder. Despite this, the 49ers also have to keep the bigger picture in mind. The 5 time SB champions know what it feels like to go into the playoffs without some of their star players and come up short.
No team except the Chiefs has made it to the conference championship more than the 49ers since 2019. But unlike the Chiefs, they have no ring to show for. A team with an immense amount of pressure to win an SB, especially with a QB on a rookie contract faces an intense dilemma when it comes to the health of their superstars and if the risk of rushing them back into action is something they should take.

No team has had to deal with more adversity than the 49ers in the past few years when it comes to keeping their players healthy. Should Kyle listen to CMC or look at the future? What’s your opinion about this?
