The Dallas Cowboys got their name crossed out among the undefeated NFL teams, after the devastating 28-16 loss against the Arizona Cardinals. But all hope is not lost, as the team still has a chance to turn their record to 3-1 next Sunday against the New England Patriots. Drama ensues, however, as the Running Back of the Patriots, Ezekiel Elliott, used to play for the Cowboys. This turns next Sunday’s game into more than just a match-up; it will also be a clash between former teammates.

Elliott took his leave from the Cowboys in March after playing seven seasons for them. He then moved on with the one-year deal he signed with the Patriots in August. After six months, Elliott will be sharing the field again with his friends and former teammates. Even the Cowboys star linebacker, Micah Parsons, addressed this.

The New England Patriots are going to strive for a 2-2 record, as they’re coming off a splendid 15-10 win against the New York Jets. While the Cowboys are still recovering from the Cardinals’ loss, they would also be looking forward to rectifying their course. It is in this context that the team will be sharing the ball with their former teammate Ezekiel Elliott while standing on a different side. The Cowboys’ star linebacker reacted to this.

Micah Parsons was strangely a bit excited, as he believed it’d be great to play alongside ‘Zeke’ again, even though they’d be playing against each other. He said, “He’s just my dog. I know it’s like all love, I just know we just go out there and compete.” Moreover, he believes that Elliott will make the environment a bit more competitive for the entire team. On a different note, the Cowboys even showed concern that the RB Elliott would be spilling out their trade secrets to the Patriots ahead of their game.

Parsons added how Elliot used to remind him during practice about how he really understood the linebacker and would make a challenging opponent if he was playing for the other side. Parsons said: “Zeke’s coming for me because he used to tell me, he’s like, ‘You’re lucky I’m not out there. I really get you.” However, Parsons seems even more excited about the match for this very reason.

On the other hand, the media raised a similar question to Elliott. In response, he talked about how there would definitely be some emotions and how he’d still give his best, even if it had to be against his previous team.

Ezekiel Elliott talks about facing the Dallas Cowboys

Elliott believes it’ll be a bit emotional for him to enter the field against his previous team. At the same time, he understands that he needs to get over his feelings and perform his best for his current team, the New England Patriots. During his conversation with the Dallas media, he mentioned, “I’ve got to prepare for a game. I’ve got to go out, put my best foot forward.

Furthermore, he continued, “I mean, there are emotions. I may do a good job of kind of hiding them but there will be some emotions.” In another one of his interviews with NBC Sports, he stated that “it’s just another week” for him. While he’s definitely looking forward to sharing the field with his old teammates, Elliott is very clear about what his job is on Sunday.
