From playing college football to being signed as a rookie to an NFL team is a dream come true for any rookie football player. The Dallas Cowboys recently made this dream of LB Mikel Jones a reality. With this addition, the Cowboys will have excellent support for their defensive line. The position was vacant after the team released Devin Harper, a player who was playing on special terms. The vacant position did affect the Cowboys, but the team is doing quite well looking at the season’s record.

The Cowboys are performing decently this season, with only one loss till week 4, which they owe to the Cardinals. As the Cowboys prepare for their clash against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, the new linebacker will be of great aid. As this is the first season of Jones after college football, the player is equally excited to be on the ground.

According to the reports, Mikel Jones was added to the practice squad on Tuesday. Brock Hoffman and Devin Harper’s issues created vacant positions, and as everyone knows, vacant positions do not yield any good results for any team. As a result, the Cowboys have officially signed the former linebacker. Subsequently, Mikel Jones shared this on his X handle, with a heartfelt statement. Extremely excited to join America’s team. I’m ready to WORK! #DallasCowboys.” The statement shows that the rookie is looking forward to making a good contribution to the team.

Jones has been associated with his former team, Syracuse Orange, since 2019. In his college football career, the LB has had commendable achievements. Not only was he a two-time captain at his university, but he also is a three-time all-ACC player. If we go by the numbers, then in 2021, Jones led the ACC with 60 solo tackles and had 110 total tackles, along with four recorded sacks. He left the team after fulfilling his goal for the Syracuse team, which was to qualify them for a bowl game. Now, only time will tell what will his goal be for the Cowboys. However, the owner of the team, Jerry Jones, has very specific goals for the team in mind.

Jerry Jones thinks the Dallas Cowboys will beat the 49ers

As per the owner of the team Jerry Jones, the Cowboys have no reason to lose against the team that has not lost a single game this season, aka the 49ers. Although the owner has an inspiring motivation for the win in mind. The 49ers eliminated the Cowboys’ from last season’s divisional playoffs.
