The Denver Broncos have won the first game of the season and have put down their opponents, Chicago Bears, down to 0-4. In the Sunday afternoon game, the Broncos became the exemplary figure of resilience, as they jumped from being 28-7 in the third quarter, to 31-28. This game definitely pushed them a bit ahead in the league, but the defensive drawback of the team was still quite apparent in the Broncos. However, the Broncos QB Russell Wilson pulled his team out of the mire and pushed them to victory.

Even though the defensive lineup made a necessary stop on fourth-and-one when it mattered the most, they felt like a liability in the first half of the game, making them an easy target for Bears QB Justin Fields. So, are the Broncos still disappointed about their performance, or are they celebrating? The head coach, Sean Payton, answered it beautifully.

After their first victory, the Denver Broncos restrained from blowing confetti in the air, as the team still had a lot of things that still required a lot of work. Although Payton appreciated his players for standing their ground and not losing hope till the end, it doesn’t change the fact that they still have to work really hard if they want to get ahead in the league.

Payton said, “I don’t want to sugarcoat anything. There’s some things, you know, we’re going to play a lot better teams on our schedule, and no disrespect to Chicago and Matt and what they’re trying to do and I’m sure the feeling is same here.” So, they understand that if they want to stay competitive, they’ll have to improve.

The head coach understands that they have to stop relying on their star quarterback every time they want to snatch the victory from the opponents. It seems there are still some lessons to be learned from the historic 70-20 loss against the Miami Dolphins.

In the post-game interview, the head coach couldn’t say anything that would make matters any better. He just had to accept and choose to say how things actually were. He said, “Obviously that was embarrassing.” He also said how he was “at a loss for words.” He further added that it’s alright to lose in some NFL games, but this was something totally different.

Well, they tried to tune up their plays. However, after the performance of the first half against the Bears, it seems there’s still more refining required. The team was desperate for this victory. After their loss, Russell Wilson had notably reflected on his predicament with the Broncos.

Even Broncos inside linebacker Alex Singleton stated after losing to the Dolphins, “It’s the most embarrassing game I’ve ever watched. We’ve got to figure it out. Thank god it’s only one. But we can’t make it more.
