The 3-4 Saints are not in a good position, especially after their ugly loss against the Jaguars in Week 7. With a score of 31-24 against the Jaguars, the players have not only lost but also have disappointed the fans. As a result, fans and critics alike have swarmed Twitter to comment on the players and, more importantly, the team. Even though QB Derek Carr has become a hot target for much criticism, the head coach, Dennis Allen, too, has not been spared from the wrath of their internet audience.

Only one touchdown from the QB to four incomplete passes in the last quarter of the game, along with a lot of costly fumbles in the first half and even more untimely penalties, have led to the fans questioning Allen’s abilities as the head coach of Saints.

Dennis Allen ‘was’ an excellent coordinator

Allen’s hard work reflected in his career highlights as a defensive coordinator to reach the head coach position. However, it seems that the job is not for him. The former Saints defense coordinator inherited a talented roster from Sean Payton but has not used it effectively. Allen is at a record of 10-14 in 24 games with Saints. Even the selection of Allen as head coach was questioned, given his 8-28 record with the Raiders as head coach from 2012 to 2018.

Currently ranked at 169th position among 174 head coaches with 60 or more games behind them, Allen and the Saints finished at the bottom of the NFC South last year with a losing record. Allen’s record is at a stretch of 18-42, resulting in a .300 career winning percentage. He is one of the few coaches in the history of the NFL who still has his job after his not-so-good record. Now that the Saints have lost 4 games this season out of 7, fans are seriously questioning the head coach after his faith in Carr as a QB did not work out.

Why do the fans believe Allen is not a good coach?

Looking at these numbers, fans sure would question his spot as the head coach. However, as per his 2022 contract worth $32 Million, Allen isn’t possibly going anywhere for the next three years. Fans on Twitter agreed with this opinion.

Again, looking at the numbers, Allen does not seem like the best fit for Saints’ head coach, which a fan conveyed through a tweet.

Another fan agreed, saying it was a piece of cake for the Saints to lead the NFC South division.

Some other fans were not so discrete after being frustrated at seeing the talented Saints perform so badly.

Many fans decided to comment on the vital underlying issues with the offense, play-call, and the positioning of the offensive linemen, which Allen simply refuses to take ownership of.
