The Cowboys are making headlines this season. While these headlines are not only for their wins, they lure all the fans in. The 4-2 Cowboys have a lot going on. Yet, more buzz will soon surround the team as the trade day deadline approaches. Amid all this, QB Dak Prescott, who is under a lot of expectations, is leading the team into their upcoming clash against the Rams. Above all, it is QB Prescott who is suffering the most.

The QB became a recent target for critics after his poor performance against the Niners. Many agree that Prescott’s performance is not the best this season. However, being among the highest-paid QBs comes with challenges and insecurities. Prescott is blessed with the most supportive team, which is clear in the major hint the Cowboys officials dropped.

Per The Athletic executive Dianna Russini, executive vice president of Cowboys Stephen Jones reported that Dak Prescott ‘will be‘ the QB of Cowboys. This is a profound statement, especially after all the fingers pointed at the QB. Jones also shared that the executives would like to think more about this during the offseason when Prescott’s contract expires. “He’s under contract now, but we’d like to do this after the season. Once the season is over, we will focus on that. Dak will be our quarterback.” Now, Prescott can save his worries and focus solely on making his awaited comeback that silences the critics.

The QB seems to have initiated the comeback after the Cowboys emerged victorious against the Los Angeles Chargers following the Niners’ ugly loss. If the QB continues his impressive performance in the next few weeks, he won’t have to worry about the haters. They would be gone. But for this, Prescott will have to give a lot.

Why all the hate against Dak Prescott?

The Cowboys have extended Prescott’s contract for $160 million, making him one of the highest-paid QBs in the league. A contract extension during the offseason would mean even more cap for Prescot, which does not sit right with the current performance he is displaying, per the critics.

Prescott scored 2,860 yards in the previous season with 23 TDs and 15 interceptions. This year, the QB has scored 1,333 yards with 6 TDs and 3 INTs, taking his completion rate to 69.5%. However, there is a massive difference if we compare this with 2016 stats, where Prescott ran for 3,667 yards with 23 TDs and 4 INTs. Thus, the numbers show that the QB’s performance has declined over the years. However, Prescott still has the current season to prove his worth once again.
