The Miami Dolphins have outdone themselves. Just like their namesake mammal, they swam effortlessly past the Denver Broncos’ defenses, scoring touchdown after touchdown. For Russell Wilson and Broncos fans, this was another disappointing match. The magic that Sean Payton had promised to perform on taking over as head coach, fizzled out. The Broncos proved to be no match for the Dolphins. So, what went right for them?

Dolphins send Broncos to the depths

Skip Bayless, the former commentator at First Take took to Twitter to shower praises on the Dolphins. “Mike McDaniel stepped right out of “Harry Potter.” Sheer wizardry, casting his spell on Tua, working his magic in Miami with Mostert and Tyreek and Waddle.Mike McDaniel and QB Tua Tagovailoa share one of the closest head coach – quarterback bond in the league. Miami smashed Denver with a game-long domination of the field. They added 70 points to their account while letting the Broncos score only 20. That sounds like a record. We checked and the Dolphins broke their 46-year record, that too by 15 points. The Miami Dolphins had put up their most points in a game against the St. Louis Cardinals on November 24, 1977, with 55 points.

In the Broncos, Mike McDaniel was facing his former team. He had started his career as a coach with the Broncos in 2005. Now, 17 years and 7 teams later, he was with the Miami Dolphins helping them win against the team he had coached. What went right for the Dolphins?

When it rains, it pours

Star QB Tua Tagovailoa, the one serious contender to the MVP crown other than Patrick Mahomes, seems to be blooming under Beast. In the first drive of the game, he completed all seven of his pass attempts for 117 yards, including a 54-yard touchdown to Tyreek Hill. Veteran RB Raheem Mostert also shined on the field and averaged 5.6 yards per carry and secured four touchdowns. He managed to completely dominate the Broncos’ defense.

They also set new records for the season as a whole, becoming the team to score the highest points and winning by the largest margin. All in all, this was a great victory for the Dolphins. Exiting Week 3 with a 3-0 record, they humbled the Broncos and handed them their third straight defeat.
