After the 49ers vs. Vikings game concluded, the internet was spun in the frenzy of ifs and buts. A few days ago, there were questions surrounding Brock Purdy after the 49ers lost to the Browns. Shannon Sharpe called Purdy a ‘system’ quarterback. Why? Because he relies on Shanahan and the other offensive pieces heavily. But something else came out about Purdy after the Vikings game.

JPA Football made an interesting tweet that raises questions about the QB1 and his career trajectory. Did you know that multiple teams tried to engage with Purdy but in the end, he went with the 49ers? Same if and but statements popped up after reading the latest JPA Football post.

Brock Purdy from a different universe

Did you know that Purdy would have signed a UDFA with the Vikings if the 49ers didn’t pick up when they did? The 49ers took Brock Purdy in the final stages of the draft in the 7 round. Rightfully so, the Vikings did their best to add the now No. 1 QB to their arsenal to play under the shadows of Kirk Cousins. However, this would only have been the case if Purdy went undrafted. Apparently, Houston Texans were also interested in the 49ers QB1. But what would Brock Purdy’s career look like if he were to play in the Vikings?

Well, if Purdy were to join the Vikings, he would have been the QB2, or the QB3 and would not get as much spotlight as he is getting right now with Shanahan and Co. Trey Lance’s injury turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Brock Purdy as he would go on and be the No. 1 QB in the league in just a matter of year. With players like George Kittle and Christian McCaffrey right beside him, paired with Kyle Shanahan’s plays, Purdy has quickly ascended in the QB ranks.

The 49ers hadn’t been short of breaking records ever since Purdy stepped in. But after this game, it looks as if things have come full circle after Purdy had two interceptions from the very team that he had a future with.

49ers’ blessing in disguise

Though the team is on a losing streak right now, it doesn’t mean throwing shade on the QB will do any good. We cannot ignore the fact that he took the 49ers to more than 10 straight wins in the regular season, including last years games. He became one of the few elite QBs in the league, along with Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. Not only this, but he also helped Kittle with 3 touchdowns in a single game.

In addition to this, Purdy has also helped CMC to break Jerry Rice’s record of scoring a touchdown in every game. He recently added to that streak in the Vikings game as well, although the 49ers lost. Maybe he would not be able to achieve all of this if he were a ‘system’ QB. Even if he is, the system has given all the edge to the 49ers to win games.
