‘He is the next Tom Brady.’ Skip Bayless was serious when he said this statement. Not only Bayless, but even fans are starting to believe that this QB is on his way to leading his team to the Super Bowl. The San Francisco 49ers are stepping into week 6 of the season with a proud untainted record. The credit for which people are accrediting to their QB Brock Purdy.

After defeating the Cowboys 42-10, the Niners are making their way toward the playoffs, with Purdy and Shanahan leading the way. Furthermore, the other players of the 49ers give their heart and soul to the game as well. Especially when they have a young, talented QB like Brock Purdy.

Analyst Skip Bayless was not stopping to catch a breath while talking about, or rather praising, Brock Purdy. Purdy has been delivering exceptional performance this season, leading his team to an untainted record. “He is destroying the NFL but he’s doing it as Mr. Irrelevant, so he still doesn’t get the relevance he deserves” said Bayless. The 23-year-old in his game against the Cowboys scored 4 touchdowns along with 252 yards, contributing to his team’s massive success. Along with having a 70.4 completion percentage, the young quarterback has accumulated a good amount of fan following in such a short period of his career. The following is rightfully justified based on the performance he has been displaying in his recent games.

And it’s not just about the game against the Cowboys. When we look at Purdy’s statistics, he has completed 183 out of his 260 passing attempts for 2369 yards and 20 touchdowns this season. Along with this, Purdy’s initial stages of career ties with several other records set by NFL players over the history of the NFL. Yet, to compare a QB who has started his career just a few years back to a legendary player like Tom Brady would be an exaggeration.

What does (and does not) make Brock Purdy another early Tom Brady?

The major drawback of Skip Bayless, which oftentimes makes him a victim of mean comments from fans, is him making extravagant comparisons too quick. Like this instance, where, based on scores of just one season, Bayless declared Purdy to be on a level of a legendary NFL player. While Purdy sure has the potential, and team, to reach that level, he’s still not there.

However, just like Brady, Purdy too has extraordinary offensive linemen around him. These Pro-Bowl players provide Purdy with the best environment through which the QB can reach his to his full potential. It is only upon time, and of course, Brick Purdy himself, which will give the NFL another Tom Brady, or the first-of-his-kind, another legend Brock Purdy.
