With a splendid all-time record of 299 regular season wins, very few have achieved major feats like the New England Patriots HC Bill Belichick. However, the coach whose accolades include six Super Bowl titles, found himself a bit inadequate in Sunday’s game. He first took the mantle as an NFL coach back in 1991, for the Cleveland Browns. He joined the Patriots in 1996, but then in 1997, spent a couple of years with the New York Jets.

Then again in 2000, he came back to the Patriots and since then, has been a part of the team. In his career, he’s seen some bad nights, like the one back in 2003, when the Patriots suffered a 31-point loss to the Buffalo Bills. Then in 2020 again, they faced a 29-point loss to the same team. However, their game against the Dallas Cowboys proved to be the worst night of Belichick’s career.

The Dallas Cowboys redeemed themselves in the Week 4 game, after the devastating 28-16 loss against the Arizona Cardinals. While the Patriots had won their first game just back in the previous week, they faced a disappointing loss against the fueled-up Dallas Cowboys. The Patriots’ defensive lineup was already at a disadvantage after they announced their injury report pre-game.

In the post-game interview, the head coach stated that he couldn’t recognize his own time. Mainly because this is not how they usually play, and it came as a shock to him. In the entirety of his 29-year career, this is the first time he’s seen such a devastating loss. He said, “We’re a lot better team than we showed out there tonight. Need to do a better job playing, coaching. Not much to say.”

Belichick couldn’t recognize his team against the Cowboys

Belichick threw two interceptions. One of them turned out to be a TD and the other one also tagged a score in Cowboys’ stats. So, after his performance, he was benched in the third quarter, with still three minutes and forty-one seconds remaining on the clock. And by the time, Bailey Zappe entered the field, it was too late for the Patriots to make a comeback.

Moreover, he also stated that even though the play was “disappointing”, they can’t do anything anymore but take notes from this and get better. He said, “Definitely disappointed, but at the end of the day, I’m going to keep grinding. And hopefully, the guys will come with me. It’s hard, right, for me to sit up here and say that. I’m very disappointed in myself, but I’ve got to bounce back.”
