The Atlanta Falcons might have just lost a true gem. When one of the best players in the history of the Atlanta Falcons left the team, they surely lost a great player. Also, neither the Buccaneers nor the Titans could get Julio Jones, who is a probable future Hall of Famer, to his fullest potential. The WR has a good number of records on his name. From being the Falcons’ all-time career receptions leader to being selected by two All-Pro teams, Jones has done it all.

Yet, irony mocks him. Even after being a Pro Bowl seven times, Jones is yet not on the list of NFL Hall of Famers. The fact is deeply saddening for both the WR and his fans. However, Julio now has a ray of light at the end of his 12-year-long tunnel.

After leaving the Buccaneers in 2022, Jones got his freedom by becoming an unrestricted free agent. Yet, as history goes, no free agent’s talents are either recognized or utilized. However, another opportunity knocked on Jones’s door when the Eagles approached him for this season. Julio Jones joined the Eagles’ practice squad on Tuesday, as per the NFL website. The Eagles declared receiver Quez Watkins as reserved because of a hamstring injury. As a result, the 34-year-old joined the practice squad as the number 3 receiver behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith.

If Jones impresses the Eagles, which his fans are sure he would, then he has a chance of getting promoted to the 53-men roster ahead of the 5-1 Eagles’ next clash. On the other hand, if the situation doesn’t turn out to be in favor of the Pro Bowl, he might face a similar setback as in the previous seasons with the Titans and Buccaneers. Nevertheless, the WR has scored the fastest 10,000 career-receiving yards in 2018, so impressing a team would be no big task for him. That is if the Eagles are already not impressed with his accolades.

Julio Jones’s career achievements

Jones has some pretty mind-boggling career statistics, and the list is long. Starting with the more recent ones, in the 2022 season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jones played 10 games in the regular season while recording 24 receptions for 299 receiving yards and two touchdowns. In the previous season, when the WR was associated with the Tennessee Titans, he recorded one of his best games in week 2. Although his team lost by 3 points, Jones received 6 receptions for 62 yards. Moreover, in 2019, Jones became the all-time career-receiving yards leader for the Falcons. Along with this, he is third all-time in career games with 100 yards receiving with 59.

However, an accomplishment that is still not there to adorn Jones’s picture-perfect resume is the Super Bowl ring. Even though the wide receiver wadded his way to the Super Bowl back in 2016 with the Atlanta Falcons. In the playoffs during that season, Jones had nine receptions for 180 yards and two touchdowns against the Green Bay Packers. In Super Bowl LI, an iconic game in itself, Jones recorded four receptions for 87 receiving yards on four targets. Unfortunately, the Patriots walked away that night with the ring in their hands. Now, the WR has a chance to make his way back to the rings with the previous year’s Super Bowl contender. It is going to be one thrilling journey.
