The post-win times are the best, especially when you have put in the work throughout the decades. Detroit Lions can’t seem to get enough of the newfound ‘elite’ status they have made this season. The team is at its all-time high with their current streak being the best it has been for the fourth time in the past 50 years. Moreover, it has been the sixth time that the Lions have crossed the mark of 4-1 or more since the 1970 merger.
The 1970s-1990s era saw some of the best games the Lions had. Be it the Lions making a signature comeback from the legendary Utley’s absence due to his career-ending injury, or just Barry Sanders and Matthew Stafford starting their own legacies after Utley, the Cowboys have seen it all. Now, Detriot is witnessing the rise of a new sun around the horizon with players like Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and Trevon Diggs leading the way.

However, it is not just their 5-1 record that says so, it’s the numbers that represent their outstanding performance this season as a team. Even the media has acknowledged their performance this season, by asking one simple question to Amon Ra St-Brown. “Are the Lions one of the best teams in the league?” Well, the answer to this is debatable. However, one end holds some solid arguments against the other. The side that is in favor of the Lions.
The team has been receiving much criticism this season, much of it seems unnecessary. And it is not new to them as well. The only difference this time around is it is not deserved. Not only because there have been no PR nightmares this season but also because of their performance this season. Agreed that their QB Prescott had an overwhelmingly poor performance against the Cowboys, but a bad game does not mean a bad season. The Lions’ form and mindset this season, which led them to 5-1 this season is proof.
Moreover, Dan Campbell has done a pretty solid job of perfecting the Lions’ offense, which is reflected well this season. QB Jared Goff has 1618 passing yards, David Montgomery with 385 rushing yards, and Amon-Ra St. Brown has 455 receiving yards. Not to mention Alex Anzalone’s 44 tackles with CB Jerry Jacob’s 3 interceptions in 6 games of the season.

The Detroit Lions are living in their prime time. Firstly, they are tied for having the best record in week 6 of the league since 1993, the year in which they won their last divisional championship. Moreover, they have bagged four straight wins, by a margin of 14 or more points, making them the owners of the longest streak in the NFL this season. If they manage to make a fifth win against the Ravens with a margin of 14 points or more, then they will tie with franchise history, something which they have done during the 69-70 season.
Since 2014, the team has not been in the top ten for defense. They currently rank at seventh in total defense and ninth in scoring defense in the league. Speaking of rankings, the team also ranks seventh for its offense and eighth for its defense this season. They also are the only NFC team, as well as one of the three NFL teams to score 20 or more in each game.
