Back in the 2018 season, during Week 2 against the Detroit Lions, the San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle invented a renowned NFL holiday. In that game, Kittle had a microphone on him, so when his teammate Garrett Celek completed a touchdown. He celebrated this feat from the sideline, and that’s when Kittle uttered that it was National Tight Ends Day, fawning over the performance of Celek. This instantly gained attention on social media, and thus the day was born.

From that day onwards, the NFL celebrates the fourth Sunday of October is named the ‘National Tight Ends Day’. He even shared this incident himself. A day after this occasion, the San Francisco 49ers suffered a 22-17 defeat against the Minnesota Vikings. But even the loss didn’t let Kittle hold back from praising the fellow tight end of the opposite team, T.J. Hockenson.

In the Monday Night Football, the star Tight Ends in the game entered the field with great energy. From the Niners’ side, George Kittle entered the field, while from the Vikings’ end, T.J. Hockenson was the one holding the mantle. It was an incredible game for Hockenson, as he ended up with six catches for 66 yards just in the first half. While Kittle had the roughest start ever.

In the first half, Kittle could only manage to deliver 2 passes in the 16 yards. So the team faced a setback without the presence of Deebo Samuel. Still, Kittle didn’t hold himself back from praising his fellow tight end on the opposite end, T.J. Hockenson. After the game, both players were seen hugging and laughing with each other, while Kittle boosted up the fellow TE for incredible plays on the field.

Not only this, despite being started off as a joke, the ‘National Tight Ends Day’ is taken quite seriously among NFL fans. Everybody was also quite excited about this matchup. Even the NBA star LeBron James wished both TEs George Kittle and T.J Hockenson on such an important day.

LeBron James pays homage to his favorite Tight Ends in the league

A lot of people must not know that LeBron James was quite a commendable high school football player. Although moving ahead in life, he pursued basketball dedicatedly, but his love for the league still persists to this day. He repeatedly voices his opinions regarding different games and matchups. So recently, he posted a video addressing his favorite players in the Tight End posting.

He said, “Happy Tight Ends Day. Yes sir. Shout out to all my Tight Ends out there man. Beautiful Thing. Travis Kelce, George Kittle, T.J. Hockenson, that’s just to name a few. So many out there, man. Mark Andrews, stud. Just to name a few, Dawson Knox. I can keep going on and on about some of the greats, Kyle Pitts.” So, it’s evident that he follows the league quite keenly.
