The rich just got richer. If you are a fan of either 49ers or Cowboys, this is the last thing you might want to hear. As if a roster consisting of Pro Bowlers left and right was not scary enough, Philly added one more piece to it. Yes, you heard it right folks, Julio Jones is an Eagle now. 7-time pro bowler and a former Falcon will be seen wearing midnight green for the rest of the season. Howie Roseman is leaving no stone unturned after his squad came up short in a recent SB.

Julio Making A Comeback

When Adam Schefter of ESPN reported about Eagles acquiring Jones, everyone around the NFL world was in a bit of a shock. You would think a team with two No.1’s in Brown and Smith would not be in the market for a receiver, but here they come. Julio Jones, as considered by many, is a future Hall Of Famer with all the accolades to show for it, except a ring. In fact, so many media pundits and fans have gone on to anoint him as the best wide receiver of the last decade. The former Alabama standout holds all the franchise records from his days in Atlanta.

He is the Falcons‘ franchise record holder in receiving yards (12,896), receptions (848), 1000 yards per season (seven) etc. Moreover, Julio also leads all active NFL players in both receiving yards and receptions. In fact, he was so dominant during his Atlanta days that even while being covered by two guys, he would always get his yards. The 6’2 freak of nature used to create all sorts of trouble for opposing defensive coordinators due to his unique size and speed combo.

New Look Eagles Offense

Despite a 5-1 start, Jalen Hurts and Co. have not looked anywhere close to their potential. Now, that could change instantly with the addition of Jones. However, as an Alabama product, he might not be what he once was. At 34-years old, his best days are far behind him. His last two seasons with the Bucs and the Titans were not anywhere close to his standard. But on a team with two elite perimeter threats, he will get enough space to work his magic. Top CBs of opposing teams would be asked to cover DeVonta and AJ Brown leaving Julio alone with their nickel CB which would create a huge mismatch.

Julio has predominantly lined up on the outside for most of his career, so can Nick Sirianni and Brian Johnson find a way to make him fit in the slot? This remains to be seen. What are your thoughts on this acquisition and can it work?
