When Russell Wilson left the Seattle Seahawks to join the Broncos in the off-season, nobody expected Geno Smith to carry the less-than-confident Seahawks and their fans to the playoff this year. And with Geno receiving the deserved praise and accolades, Wilson kept his pride aside to give Smith a shout-out.

Geno Smith won Fox’s NFL Comeback Player Of The Year award after finishing the season in the super wild-card round against the San Francisco 49ers. Russell Wilson didn’t have the season that Broncos Nation expected out of the Super Bowl champion. And many considered the shout-out for Geno to be borne out of jealousy.

The $245 million quarterback had the worst season of his career, with a Broncos offense that ranked last in points per game. Smith finished the season with 4282 passing yards and 30 touchdowns, while Wilson only managed 16 TDs over 3524 yards.

However, Russell kept all the stats aside and congratulated Geno on winning the much-deserved Comeback Player of The Year award. “Congrats 7,” Wilson tweeted. And while some fans appreciated the brotherhood, there were a few pointing out the dark side.

But it all looks to be fabricated by the social media netizens as there is nothing but love between the two quarterbacks. Geno retweeted Russell’s tweet, appreciating the shout-out. “Appreciate you Russ,” Geno wrote. His 2023 contract talks with the Seahawks are going pretty well and looks like there are many more congratulations on the way to Geno.
