Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes are possibly amongst the most talented and exciting quarterbacks in the NFL. No matter how friendly the players may be, comparisons and media-created rivalry reports are bound to pop up.
So far, both the camps have denied the news of any rivalry. But ahead of the Sunday night showdown between Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens, Ravens’ wide receiver Sammy Watkins, who has played with both Lamar and Mahomes, revealed that they definitely view each other as rivals.

Ahead of the Chiefs-Ravens match, Lamar Jackson in the pre-match presser on Wednesday spoke to Jamison Hensley of ESPN. When quipped about the social media chatter about Mahomes vs Jackson, the Ravens star brushed it aside instantly. “It’s not about me and Mahomes. Not to me. Probably to everyone else. But it’s the Ravens versus the Kansas City Chiefs.”
Meanwhile, Baltimore Ravens’ receiver Sammy Watkins, who has played with both the quarterbacks, confirmed that both the players definitely view each other as rivals. Speaking to NBC Sports, he said, “I think those guys definitely view it that way. You can say you’re not, but the world is watching two of the best, youngest MVPs in the league and very talented guys.”
“I’m definitely looking at it that way like, man, Lamar needs to win. He’s been doing a great job in this league with how he’s carrying himself as a teammate and as a guy that does the right things off the field. I just think it’s time for him to take that next hump and try to get a win, and I hope this team, we prepare and the coaches prepare to do our best to will a win for the organization and him.”

So far, Ravens and Jackson have faced defeat in all their past three encounters with KC Chiefs and Mahomes. Some even describe KC Chiefs as Lamar Jackson’s Kryptonite. It will be really interesting to see if Jackson can finally muster up a win for the Baltimore-based side. Also, can Jackson clinch Ravens’ first win of the season?
