Narratives can affect legacy. We have repeatedly seen players walk away from certain narratives that diminish their skills and put other greats of the game on a pedestal. Something similar happened in the Green Bay Packers locker room in 2022. Despite the Packers’ WRs putting up great numbers, their success was often attributed to the greatness of Aaron Rodgers, and not everyone agreed.

During his 17-year run with the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers continued baffling the NFL world with his immaculate passes. His dazzling performances were rewarded, as Rodgers was honored the NFL MVP four times, and 10 Pro Bowl honors. But was Aaron Rodgers the only pivotal figure on the Packers? Davante Adams says ‘no’.

Davante Adams is chasing history. During a conversation with CBS Sports, Adams eluded to his goal of getting inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and he is well on his way. Playing alongside one of the greatest quarterbacks in the game aided Adams to solidify himself as one of the best WRs in the league, however, there was one knock. The narrative was that Adams owed most of his success to Aaron Rodgers, but those doubts have been silenced.

Adams got traded to the Raiders in 2022, and since then he has continued adding to his resume. In his first season with Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams caught 100 passes for 1,516 yards and a league-high 14 touchdowns. And he did all this with their QB1, Derek Carr, on the bench.

Speaking on his journey Adams said, “Now people can’t say that, That’ll never be the narrative ever again. … It proved that I am me. A quarterback doesn’t make me. … I make me. And I can do it consistently at this level.

However, Adams’s comments incited an equally insightful response from former teammate David Bakhtiari.

Bakhtiari expressed delight with Davante Adams shutting down the naysayers but felt that he didn’t have to change allegiance. With both Rodgers and Adams departed from the Packers’ locker room, Bakhtiari is out there chalking out the next chapter of his life, as the Green Bay front office hasn’t made any calls yet.

David Bakhtiari looks for a landing spot

David Bakhtiari has been an equally impactful contributor for the Green Bay Packers alongside Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams. With Rodgers moving on to New York Jets, several of the existing Packers’ veterans also followed. Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard were one of the few who walked the same path as Aaron Rodgers, leaving behind Bakhtiari.

Despite dealing with several injuries, five-time All-Pro left tackle David Bakhtiari proved he is still an outstanding pass-protector last season. However, his salary cap would be a major obstacle to continuing his time in Green Bay. Bakhtiari’s cap is expected to skyrocket to $40.58 million, and the Pro Bowler might end up on the chopping block. While other integral pieces of the Packers’ have moved on to greener pastures, Bakhtiari’s future still remains uncertain, and a safe haven is in much demand.
