After a one-year absence, Cam Newton promised a return to the NFL with a bold message yesterday. Kids these days could even say that the former Heisman winner ‘dissed’ the rest of the 32 starting quarterbacks in the league. However, that’s a bold and uncalculated statement to make. And some ex-champions and legends have picked up major beef with that.
Who else but Shannon Sharpe? The three-time Super Bowl champion ripped apart Superman on the ‘Undisputed’ Live broadcast on FS1. Besides laying out the facts and numbers on the table, Sharpe was also ruthless in turning the very word he had a problem with against Cam.
What did Superman do to upset the former Bronco?

As the free agency continues, Cam Newton is not exactly at the top of any team’s wanted list at the moment. However, despite missing nearly two seasons of action, and last having won an NFL game back in 2020, Superman believes he is ready to return.
“Tell me how these randoms keep getting jobs. Don’t worry about it. I’m going to show you. Can’t wait to show you,” Newton said in the 54-second video he posted on his Instagram account. It was an announcement video where the former NFL MVP declared that he will be throwing for NFL teams this Tuesday at his Alma Mater, Auburn during their Pro Day. And Cam will surely hit the nostalgia road after having done the same workout with the Tigers before getting drafted in 2011.

Cam even has the playlist ready for the throwing workout. “Ain’t 32 mother——- better than me, you dig,” Superman said as he ended the video.
Shannon Sharpe goes off on Cam Newton
After two stints with the Carolina Panthers, Cam can say goodbye to a third stint after David Tepper’s organization secured the first overall pick in this year’s draft. This ensures one of the top QB prospects, like CJ Stroud or Anthony Richardson. It’s 2023, and Shannon thinks Superman should realize that.
“You’re one of them randoms,” Shannon started, with his co-host Skip Bayless agreeing. The former Denver and Baltimore Ravens tight end elaborated on some of the glaring facts that could dissuade any team from pursuing Newton. Like Cam’s last playoff appearance coming in 2017, and his last Pro Bowl in 2015, the year he led the Panthers to a Super Bowl appearance.

Also, Superman hasn’t had a 3000-yard passing season since 2018. “Cam is basing everything on what he once was. Cam, you haven’t been good for a very long time, bro. That’s probably how the league looks at you now, one of them randoms,” Sharpe added.

Things can still go in Newton’s favor if any team can’t secure their preferred quarterback in the draft. Besides that, Superman has no other option but to ace the workout on Tuesday if he wants to prove Sharpe wrong.
