It has been an eventful couple of months for Travis Kelce. Having won a Super Bowl championship in the last month, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end went on to host the latest installment of Saturday Night Live.

Hosting Saturday Night Live can be considered as a ‘validation’ of reaching ‘super stardom’, and Pat McAfee was definitely delighted at Kelce’s achievement.

Unfortunately, most sports fans just ended up missing Travis Kelce’s Saturday Night Live gig, as the UFC 285 was going on at the same time, but not McAfee.

McAfee’s priority list however ended up rubbing a lot of people the wrong way.

Pat McAfee clashes with NFL Twitter

The UFC 285 was an entertaining event with Jon Jones making a triumphant return to the big stage. Having been away from the game for three long years, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones went on to dominate Ciryl Gane, winning the heavyweight title in the process.

Jones went on to share his game plan after the fight, “I’ve been wrestling since I was 12 years old and I feel stronger and more comfortable, especially on the ground.

Pat McAfee however ended up missing this action-packed night, replacing it with Travis Kelce’s SNL performance.

Although McAfee shared this post with a tad of ‘tongue in cheek’ humor, the regular sports fan felt offended.

One user went on to point out the huge upset that McAfee ended up missing, “You just missed a top 5 upset

While another showcased pure surprise at McAfee’s choice

One particular user even went on to take a dig directly at SNL, “You just missed a MASSIVE upset watching mid-comedy, my guy.

While another added, “I mean I love Kelce but SNL is for 50-year-old men

The general consensus was that McAfee missed something incredible.

Pat McAfee’s choice was indeed a shocker for the average sports fan, but given his NFL past it is understandable that he wanted to support Travis Kelce during his big moment.

Travis Kelce did deserve an awful lot of credit for his incredible Saturday Night Live debut. The tight end delivered a hilarious monologue showing hints of his wit and charm at the same time.

He went on to poke fun at his teammate Patrick Mahomes, doing an impersonation that resonated well with the audience. Kelce didn’t shy away from addressing some of his own issues over the years with pure grace and class. Having failed both French and English classes in school, Kelce also had his fair share of ‘addiction’ problems.

It just goes to show you if you smoke weed and you’re bad at school, you can win the Super Bowl twice,” said Kelce with a smile on his face.

Kelce described the entire experience as emotional and nerve-wracking as he grew up watching Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler on the same stage.
