In the latest excerpt from ESPN+ docuseries Man in the Arena, the NFL power couple Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen recall the most precious moment of their lives. They open up about when they gave birth to their son Benjamin Rein.
However, after revealing her plans on delivering the baby at home, Brady disagreed. Nevertheless, she stood her ground and went for it anyway. Brady seemed skeptical about Bundchen’s plans to birth Benjamin outside of a typical hospital environment.

Gisele Bundchen stands her ground against Tom Brady
“It was a home birth and it was funny because he didn’t want me to have a home birth,” she recalls. “He was like, ‘Absolutely not,’ and I was like, ‘Excuse me, you don’t get to choose that, it’s my body.’” She adds, “He was like, ‘Who has a kid at home in 2000…?’ I do.”
However, the Bundchen had a safe delivery, and with a sigh of relief, Brady recalls, “Me being there with G at his birth in our home, it lives in my mind. I think we brought this boy into the world in the most precious way.”
Now the couple is also parents to their nine-year-old daughter Vivian Lake. Brady is also the father to 14-year-old John “Jack” Edward, whom he shares with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan.

Bundchen further said, “I believe it’s a woman’s right to make the decision about how she’s going to give birth to her child. And it’s also her right to have access to the information she needs so she can make that decision from a place of awareness, and not a place of fear.”

With her actions, Bundchen promoted education and awareness about birthing alternatives. Further, she helped campaign for pregnant women given the opportunity to give birth how they choose.
