Aaron Rodgers is a man of confidence. The NFL superstar in a recent media interaction praised the Packers’ defense for its powerful approach and credible performance.
“I like our defense on paper for sure…I felt coming into camp, to be honest, we were going to get our butts kicked most days because our defense is talented and deep and athletic. “The whole key is consistency in what we are taught. To see an improvement every day and maybe the thought that every single player we play is watching. It is a way of practicing they need to just understand,” the 38-year-old NFL star said.

Rodgers also added the reason why he is confident about his side’s abilities. “Even if it’s a great defense, you can always find one guy to pick on, but I don’t feel like we have that in this defense,” he said.
Story of the Packers’ defense in the NFL
The Packers’ side had a sedate past in the defense unit. They finished ninth in total defense last year. During the last season, they allowed an average of 32.5 points per game in its ten playoff losses. It is this dubious record that the team is trying to break this year.

In order to improve their performance, they inked veteran edge-rusher Preston Smith and standout cornerback, Rasul Douglas, to major contracts this year. Alexander, Eric Stokes, Adrian Amos, and Darnell Savage also comprise the defense backup for the new season. If pre-season games are to be counted, they are already showing traces of improvement, something which the opposition sides also admit.
After repeated setbacks, the Matt LaFleur-trained side aims for nothing short of the trophy this year. As a result, they want their defense to play to their best version possible this year.

Aaron Rodgers and his role as mentor cum player
An experienced campaigner, Rodgers establishes his presence as a player, as well as a mentor for his side. Incidentally, many team members turn up to him for suggestions for improvement. He also takes one-on-one meetings with players. Sometimes, he invites them for personal dinner, and it is all done to establish a personal rapport with the players.
