Antonio Brown is prone to controversies. The former Pittsburg Steelers‘ infamous exit from the league was etched in every NFL fan’s mind, and his time as an owner hasn’t been particularly hassle-free. Brown and his involvement with the National Arena League, being the part owner of Albany Empire, has been a road full of pit stops, as earlier Brown claimed himself to be the sole owner, and later on was accused of not paying his employees.

Brown and his antics have been a regular occurrence for the average NFL fan, rooting back to his days as a Steeler and his infamous run-in with Ben Roethlisberger. The same attitude carried on during his Super Bowl campaigns with the Bucs and eventually Brown found his way out of the league, but his recent claims are far more outlandish.

Is Antonio Brown the owner of Albany Empire?

Antonio Brown seemed determined to “Make Albany Great Again, as he hung on to his childhood memories. Brown’s father played for the Empire throughout his formative years and this sense of belonging made Brown join the ownership group along with the majority owner Mike Kwarta.

However, chaos soon followed as Brown soon claimed that he was the sole owner of the Albany Empire and just a day after, the Pro Bowler was ushered off by security as Brown’s co-owner disagreed. Since then Brown has extended his ownership stake from 47.5% to a whopping 95%.

While such happenings have been a regular with Antonio Brown, the recent uncovering by the Albany Times Union makes one question the legitimacy of the whole ownership gig. Turns out Antonio Brown is not the owner of the Empire in any capacity, rather the team is owned by Antonio El-Allah Express Trust Enterprise.

A letter uncovered by sources leads one to believe that Brown is attempting to position himself as a “sovereign citizen”, granting him immunity to the U.S jurisdiction. Such tactics have been fairly common, but rarely does someone as well-known as Brown resort to such cheap escape routes. Usually, the endgame is to clutter the court proceedings with frivolous paperwork, and while Brown’s intentions are still not known, maybe Albany is not in as great of a spot as it was before.

Needless to say, fans have been horrified by the way Brown has been dealing with the rich history of the Albany Empire, something he himself is all too familiar with. Amidst all the chaos, Brown did, however, end up paying his employees, sharing the exact moment on Twitter, and fans couldn’t help but take jabs at him for it.

Fans are unhappy with Antonio Brown

Reports of Brown not paying his team coaches and players were doing the rounds, forcing the head coach and the reigning league MVP to walk away from Albany Empire. Since then. Brown has come out and settled all dues but fans were left fuming at Brown’s insolence towards an already underpaid league.

However, fans could not help but show their displeasure with AB and his antics.

As one disgruntled fan tried wrapping their head around the chaos, “You act like paying your employees is something you should be celebrated for…..

The outrage continued as another fan took a sarcastic approach, “Congrats, you’re actually paying people now.

Seems like the Albany Empire fans have lost their trust in Antonio Brown, and Brown’s recent claims certainly give them the right to feel that way. With Brown continuing with his antics, the future of the Albany Empire seems to be in danger, and fans certainly hope for a better management group.
