What changed for Kirk Cousins?
Former football player Ron Johnson broke down the changed environment that Kirk Cousins finds himself in under coach Kevin O’Donnell at Minnesota. He said on the Pat McAfee Show that it was about Kirk having a coach teaching him to trust the receivers and the process. And that he is more fun now, matching the vibes of his teammates.
“Kirk Cousins, years ago, would have never put on diamond chains on the plane with his teammates. And now, he’s doing it for social media, he doesn’t care what the people think,” Johnson said.“He’s got the T-shirt tucked into the sweatpants, full dad mode. But hey, if a player, if one of his teammates wants him to have fun, he’s gonna have fun. I think that’s what we’re seeing.”
Mike Zimmer was at the helm of the Vikings when Cousins arrived in Minnesota. They made the playoffs together in 2019 but missed out for the next two years. And then O’Donnell replaced him this season. Since then, the Vikings have been sailing smoothly.
