The NFL is an embodiment of competitiveness. Despite multi-million contracts and endorsements turning the game into a business of sorts, but a business of winning nonetheless. Every season is an opportunity for elite athletes to rack up accolades and build their immortalized legacy. And while most professional athletes prefer to keep their future plans under wraps, the Dolphins‘ wide receiver Tyreek Hill rolls differently.
Most NFL players do not go around dishing challenges out to legendary athletes, but Tyreek Hill isn’t one of them. Just a month back Hill challenged former Barcelona legend and World Cup Winner Lionel Messi to a head-to-head, taking a break from his favorite nemesis Usain Bolt. However, Hill might not be done with setting up challenges for the future and somehow his former teammates have furthered that very cause.

The past NFL season wasn’t the perfect ending for the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins fell short in the Wild Card Round despite making the playoffs for the fifth consecutive year. To make matters worse, Hill’s former team, the Kansas City Chiefs secured their second Super Bowl ring. Having played a pivotal role in the Chiefs’ previous Super Bowl outing, Hill has only been able to draw motivation at the success Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs secured all over again. However, a motivated Tyreek Hill recently dished out an open challenge of sorts during the recent episode of his podcast ‘It Needed To be Said’.

Tyreek Hill went on to bring back an old target he had set for himself during the 2020 season. At the time, Tyreek Hill alluded to joining a very special group of individuals by garnering 2000 rushing yards. So far only eight NFL professionals have achieved this feat in history, and Hill wants to be the ninth, “I will break 2,000 yards next year, bro, 2,000 yards was on my bucket list to get before I leave this league … 2,000 yards and another Super Bowl — we getting that. Believe that.”

The Pro Bowler also reflected on the impeccable run he had in Kansas but soon the conversation shifted to Hill having his eyes on the big prize, “Each and every week that we prepared whenever I was with Kansas City, there was never a doubt in my mind that we were gonna lose no game, Right now, those boys have motivated me to go do something special in Miami. That?s the beauty about it. That?s why I play this game.“?While Hill’s dream of accumulating 2000 rushing yards and a Super Bowl title, fell short during the previous attempts, the upcoming season could be the opportune moment for the Pro Bowler.
A dream season for the Dolphins?
The 2022 season was a topsy-turvy road for the Miami Dolphins. The loyal Miami fans went through a rollercoaster of emotions as the franchise witnessed significant winning streaks as well as losing streaks. ‘Unpredictability’ is the term many might have used to describe the Miami Dolphins, but is the same applicable for the upcoming season as well?

The biggest hurdle for the Dolphins was injuries to their marquee quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa. While Tua proved his worth during his first two seasons, the signal caller was unleashed under first-year head coach Mike McDaniel’s tutelage. Leading the NFL in passer rating (105.5), Tagovailoa seemed to be the perfect candidate to lead the Dolphins. However, a string of injuries soon changed the landscape as the Tagolvailoa missed the end of the season including the final game of the season against the Bills. Hill recently revealed that Tua is back to what the league came to fear, and will have a breakout return or so Hill hopes. The Dolphins have also ramped up on the defensive end acquiring cornerback Jalen Ramsey from the Rams. With Tua leading the charge, and Hill acting as the primary receiver, the Dolphins have another shot at glory and Tyreek Hill is certainly eager to break some records.
